Vehicle History Report Summary for 1992 Replica/Kit Makes MX
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I am the original owner of this vehicle .It was under construction from 1992-94 by an authorized Classic Roadsters builder in Appleton Wi .It is titled as a 1992 and insured as a 1962. I have all of the construction manuals and most of the receipts .The car is a great driver and in almost 15 years of use it has only failed to bring me home 1 time .That was about 3 weeks ago and a $10.00 distributor module and 20 minutes put it back on the road .The car has won over 45 trophies in car shows,almost all of which were first in class .The engine is a 355 small block professionally built by a flat track race car engine builder in Wisconsin and it was dynoed at 360 hp at the crank , the transmission is a Turbo 400 with a shift kit and the rear end is 3.50 9" Ford Currie . I added a 125 hp NOS system giving about 485 hp in a vehicle weighing 2650 lbs. .The nitrous has been used very little as I installed it more as a conversation piece than anything else .The car corners and handles beautifully with a 50/50 weight distribution although the tires installed are not designed for handling. The engine has a Holley 4 barrel on an Edelbrock manifold and powder coated headers.The body is all fiberglass , the frame is a custom tubular unit built by Classic Roadsters, the front end is from a Mustang II and the brakes are 4 wheel discs.The car has 2 tops one of which is a very well done convertible top made of Hartz cloth (same as Mercedes) and the other is a beautifully designed hardtop painted to match the car with a wrap around window . The pictures of the hardtop are several years old taken with an older camera .The car has a 19 gallon gas tank and even though this is not a vehicle that you would normally mention mileage if you drive reasonably you can do 16 mpg or better. The car has air shocks on the rear and a receiver hitch to pull a small trailer if you want to travel. The interior of the car is only a little over a year old and is in beautiful condition. The body is near perfect with the exception of normal stone chips found on a driver....this is not a trailer queen. The paint is a special soft clearcoat made by Herbert Standox designed to resist dings.It is a mica paint with a slight color shift .The bumpers are stainless steel . The dash is beautifully finished and varnished 3/4" golden oak. There is a line lock installed on the front brakes .The suspension has coil springs on each wheel and rack and pinion steering . The tires are 275 SR 15 and 235 SR 15 . The 3 buttons on the steering wheel spoke are the front brake line lock, nitrous and horn. The white control panel on the console is for a musical electronic horn I use in parades.
This paragraph will be devoted to the Healeys negative aspects. The engine has a small oil leak that might require you to put a piece of cardboard under it to keep the garage floor clean. In this respect it is just like a real Healey. The gas tank filler vent is poorly designed ,the first 12 gallons go in normally and the last 7 gallons can take a while .The gas guage reads correctly intermittently ,it may be nothing more than a loose wire .The wipers are very slow and very small. Rain X will be a better choice.This is a car in which you must be cautious if you drive in the rain as a strong engine with a fast hard shifting transmission ,a short wheelbase and very large non-rain tires can make for a dangerous combination on a wet road.The heater core (Chevy II) has a small leak. I blocked off the heater as I never used it anyway .The seats are not adjustable and they are mounted all the way back in the seat well. I am 6' at 190 lbs. and it fits me perfectly but go a lot taller or heavier and it can get crowded although the tilt steering wheel will help with a larger person . There is 1 small star in the fiberglass about the size of a dime on one fender but you can only see it when you look at a certain angle . Low speed u turns and maneuvering take a bit of room as this car has the turning radius of a F 250 six pack long bed P/U . The spinner knob you see in the picture will be removed . I am selling the Healey because my wife and I want a car with a bigger windshield , A/C and more room. This is a wonderful vehicle for driving in the country , cruising the drive-in and going to car shows and cruise ins .I have had this car in numerous Christmas parades , the Grits Festival parade , Scottish Games in Chas. , shows at Santee and Wilmington and many more functions and shows......it is always a crowd favorite .The car has a cd player but I never turn it on as the exhaust note on this car is really a treat. This vehicle overall is in great condition and should give you good service with a minimum of maintenance . Everything on the car is available at any parts store except the body which being fiberglass would be easy to repair if necessary . The construction manual has a doner car parts list by part number and I have tried to list everything that is not right with the car .Please e-mail me at 3handland@hughes.net if you have any questions. RESERVE HAS BEEN LOWERED TO $14,000.00

I have been asked several question concerning the seat adjustment and tops . I failed to post them so I will answer them again.The highback bucket in the Healey is the same fiberglas shell type used in dune buggies so a WV Beetle adjustable bracket can be easily bolted on .This will allow shorter drivers to be more comfortable but it won't help with bigger or taller drivers as it will actually raise the seat a couple of inches and the seat is already as far back as it can go. The soft top is very easy to put up,1 person can do it in less than 5 minutes . The hard top weighs about 50-60 pounds and will require 2 people . The top is held on with 2 windshield clamps, 2 screws that go into brackets right behind the seats(same brackets that hold the soft top ) and 2 screws under the rear window that screw into captive nuts under the rear deck. The hard top is a little tough to install the first time but its not difficult after that . On Nov-03-09 at 18:09:26 PST, seller added the following information: THE PROGRAM IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO DROP THE RESERVE OR CHANGE THE $ 14K FIGURE BUT THE RESERVE IS NOW $10,100.00. On Nov-05-09 at 09:14:38 PST, seller added the following information: I have lowered the reserve to $10100.00 with a few days to go. I promise you that if you get this car it will knock your socks off when you see it. I'm getting that itch to get my next car and I promised my wife to sell the Healey before I buy my next car.My impatience could be your gain and enjoyment.
Unlike 999.99 percent of the other cars on e-bay my car is not perfect,it has a few problems but none of them have any bearing on the looks , driveability or reliability and all of these problems could be fixed by someone with a little skill on automobiles using basic tools and the construction manual.
