System 40 Autopilot Computer 14 Volt
We removed this S-Tec 0129 System 40 Autopilot which has NAV and heading coupling computer from a Cessna 182 when we upgraded the system to a Century 2000. This unit is currently configured for the S-Tec DG, but can be re-configured for a variety of heading systems. The face is in very good condition, all buttons are very white, and the face is clean and not scratched.
S-Tec has gone to a flat rate repair for all of the autopilot systems and components, and is divided into two categories of repair: Major and minor. The System 40 computer major repair is $1000, and minor repair is $562.50.
This auction is for the Autopilot computer listed, and our true 30 Day "No Hassle" warranty.
NOW the word on using a used S-Tec Autopilot in a certificated airplane, or experimental, and comes off of the S-Tec Marketing Memo:
S-TEC Corporation will no longer condone the practice of selling hardware kits for salvaged autopilot systems from aircraft that the system was not originally built for. The purchase of these systems from online auction services and aircraft salvage companies have called into question the proper performance of our systems in aircraft that have salvaged autopilots installed and the continued airworthiness of that aircraft has come under scrutiny. S-TEC has determined this practice is unsafe and not a fair business practice to our dealer network. Therefore, effective immediately, S-TEC will cease the sales of hardware kits without purchasing a full system. This policy does not include experimental hardware kits to experimental aircraft builders. In the same manner, S-TEC will no longer reconfigure hardware from one certified aircraft configuration to another certified aircraft configuration. Customer Service will only reconfigure hardware from a certified aircraft to an experimental aircraft or experimental configuration to another experimental configuration.
Simply put if this is going to be installed as a new installation into an aircraft, it has to be an Experimental Aircraft, and it does not come with the installation kit, servo, or heading source.
This computer can be used as a spare for your current system, but please verify the part number you in your airplane before you purchase this one.
New List Price for the computer is $3510, and new list for complete System 40's start at $7480, so this computer is a bargain!
