1954 Studebaker Sedan
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I offer this 1954 Studebaker Champion Sedan for auction. I've owned this car since I was 17 and am the second owner of the car. This car while not perfect is one of the most rot-free and solid Studebakers I've ever seen. The champion was bought new from Marcus Motors in Colorado. It spent most its life in the far SE 'dry' portion of Colorado. It remained there until I purchased it from the estate of the original owner and had it brought up to Michigan. I have never driven it in salt. This Champion runs and drives well. 3 Speed with overdrive. I had the head off the engine about 10,000 miles ago and did a valve job on it. Cylinder walls were tight with no "ridge" at the top. Tires have good tread but getting on the older side (6 years or so, I think). Starts and charges reliably on the factory 6v system. Rebuilt starter. New belts and hoses. All lights and gauges work. The frame and body is rot-free. This car is as rust-free as a Studebaker comes! When I replaced the carpet in the car a couple years back, the factory floors were excellent, and still are. There is no rot spots in the normal Studebaker places and not even heavy surface rust on the underside of the car. When I had the current set of tires put of the car, one could still see the factory paint-stick marks on the brake drums when the wheels were off. The down side to the car is that is has lots of little scrapes/dings along the lower portion of the car. The original owner kept driving it as he was loosing his senses in old age and kinda 'found stuff' while parking the car. None of it is hard damage. The worst of the rash is in the drivers door, but I have another very nice rot and dent-free 54 door I bought from California that goes with the car. Paint on the car is worn, faded out in spots, and generally tired. The chromed pot-metal on the car is truly awesome. The front grills and grill bars are beautiful...no pits, no cracks, just lovely! Interior: Original door panels are very nice, carpet was replaced a couple years ago and still nice, headliner is original and there and still up but is fragile. Rear seat is original upholstery, front has a cover on it. All the glass is good in the car with no chips or cracks. Door windows all roll up and down nicely. I've owned this car for awhile, but its time for me to move on. Its not perfect, but is a good 'driver' as is or a easy project to upgrade or restore. My reserve is very reasonable. Comes with Clear Michigan title and photocopies of old Colorado paperwork. Look up my zipcode of 49677 if you want to see how far the car is from you. I've saved listing this car for last due to attachment to it, but it is time for it to find a new loving home. As with any 55 year old car, it is sold as-is, no warranties expressed or implied. Payment must be by bank check or cash. Sorry, no IOU's livestock or your ex-wife on trade. Sorry. Full payment due within 7 days of auction close. If paying by money order or cashier's check, payment must clear my bank before the champion will be released. Can store the car inside for up to 35 days at no charge.If any quesyions please feel free to ask. Thanks! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
