1978 suzuki rm80 that I got as a basket case many years ago although all the parts were there. This bike is the first year of the six-speed transmission, the first year RM was 1986 and it was a 5-speed. it is also pre-mix. I had a new rod, rod bearing, main bearings, all engine seals and gaskets replaced. Bored with a new wiseco piston 1.0mm oversize. I used the best parts from 2 engines to put this one back together. I put a 30mm mikuni on it which was recommended for much better performance over the standard 28mm size. new air filter, air filter boot, new rear tire, tube, and brakes. all bearings are good to go. I put on it front forks from a 1979 model which are slightly larger in diameter and replaced the fork seals and new oil. The bike starts quickly and runs very strong. I had decided that I was putting so much money into parts that I just wouldnt paint the frame or the gas tank. As I got the bike, the prior owner had sprayed the gas take with yellow aeresol can, and I also decided to not get deeper into repainting the tank. the seat also has a small tear in the vinyl cover near the rear which is visible in the photos. the muffler, silencer, side panels and front number plate are all original and great condition. no rust in the gas tank. At this point I decided to leave it more as a rider or vintage class racer than a collectible piece. In my opinion it is ready to ride or race immediately except for cosmetics. any questions, just email me for more details. I didnt want to post the vin here but it is original and designates this a 1978 RM80. I am also willing to crate this bike is a wooden container for $100 additional, then if you need it shipped when the truck gets here 2 or 3 guys can pick the wood crate up and put it in a truck, but you must make all the pick-up arrangements.
