Have you ever wanted to own a Telstar Trimaran? Have you been discouraged by the prices for the new and old ones? Do you have experience and the ability to fix, restore and finish a fiberglass boat? Then read on.
This past summer Performance Cruising put five Telstar T2 prototypes up for sale. I bought one and ended up buying a second one as a reference/possible parts boat.I am now in the process of finishing my Telstar.I do not need the second boat and I am putting it up for sale to hopefully sell it to another person that loves Telstar's as much as I do. These boats were sold as kit boats and do not have hull numbers. A bill of sale will be provided to the winning bidder. Please note that this boat is the same boat that was in the original brochure and also the same boat that is in the video. It was known at the time as # 301. I would advise anyone interested in the boat to first email me, then let's talk on the phone, and finally set up an appointment to inspect the boat. I am intentionally not taking a lot of photos of the boat so that interested parties will inspect the boat personally. Please do not ask for more photos.
What you are bidding on: A Telstar T2 prototype trimaran which consists of a main hull, two amas and the retro hinge folding system which should be updated to the newer style hinge(simple modification). The main hull has the stainless bow and stern rails, a marine head with holding tank installed and working. The interior consists of a fiberglass liner, carpeting installed, teak cabinetry and trim in the galley and navigation area. Ray Marine transducers are installed in the hull and there is a galley sink and faucet. Also included is the battery switch, two Bomar hatches, windows, two Lewmar ST 42 winches on the cabin top, travelers port, starboard, and stern and an assortment of stainless fasteners and fittings on the boat. This boat also has the bowspirit and is wired for 12 Volt electricity, included also are the interior lights which are installed.
Trimarans are built light and flex alot, so cracks will develop in the fiberglass and these prototypes were no exception. The boat will need fiberglass work. If you are not confident or do not have the ability to work with fiberglass, please do not bid.
To convert the boat back to a sailing trimaran would require the Mast and sails, centerboard, rudder and spray skirts if desired. The boat would also make a great powered dive boat by adding an engine and controls. Just think at the end of the day, fold in the amas and put the boat in a narrow slip or trailer it home.
This boat is stored in Northern New Jersey, and storage is paid through November. It is the responsibility of the buyer to move the boat or negotiate a lease with the landlord. If you want the boat moved professionally I would recommend AC Boat Hauling. They moved both boats, are familiar with hauling trimarans and did an excellent job of moving them.
This boat will also be advetised locally and I reserve the right to cancel the auction if the boat is sold thru another venue. Please do not contact Performance Cruising with questions about this boat. When the boats were sold it was agreed upon by all purchasers that there would be no factory support of these boats, however sales of parts would be acceptable.
If you are unable to leave a deposit 24 hours after the close of the auction or are not able or willing to follow through on the transaction, then please do not bid. By bidding you are entering into a legal contract that is fully enforceable. The boat is being sold "as-is" with no warranty from the seller expressed or implied. Bidders are invited, encouraged and cautioned to inspect this boat prior to submitting bids. Failure to inspect the boat shall not constitute grounds for the withdrawl of a bid after auctions close. A non refunadable deposit of $250.00 will be required 24 hours after auction close. Good luck bidding and Happy Sailing.
