1972 FJ40 for sale. Clear title. The registration is non-op status (no back registration fees due). Vehicle has the original style power train. This FJ40 was owned by my uncle who was working on restoring it but came into health issues. It runs and drives. It has been sitting for years. I drove it around today and below is a list of known problems:
Transmission whines a little in first gear (I have driven alot of these FJ's and this is pretty normal)
There are dents and dings (no major damage). The vehicle looks good and does get attention.
The vehicle needs tires before being driven daily.
The transfer case rear output seal is leaking.
The base bracket for the front passenger seat is missing.
Since the vehicle has been sitting for years I would recommend doing a tune-up and going through the carburetor to remove any old fuel deposits.
My uncle purchased the vehicle not running. He got the engine running and then found that the clutch was no good. I installed a new clutch and flywheel for him. After that he health deteriorated and the vehicle sat at my shop for years. So the clutch has about 4 miles on it. The engine starts every time, you can get in and drive it away.
