Triton 880 Special. The original sportbike tracing it's roots back to the Ace Cafe in Londontown, when these custom bikes were all the rage back in the Sixties.
This one has a 1964 Norton Atlas featherbed frame with a Pre unit 650 Triumph engine. This makes it a bit more unique as most are built with unit Triumph engines.
This machine has a motor like very few others as the crank is highly modified from a Norton for a longer stroke. A stroker, mated by special made Carrilo con rods with a very rare 800cc Sonny Routt big bore barrel and forged pistons, gives a 79.5mm bore x 89mm stroke for 883cc. Plenty of power and gobs of torque. Mild port blending for the 34mm Mark II Amal Carbs, with SS oversize Valves and Spring Kit is what you will find in the 9 Stud Head. Cams are over 400 lift and in an engine this big, kind of seems mild. But coupled with the 1 3/4 Exhaust and megaphones this bike has plenty of go.
5 Speed gearbox is driven by a 30mm belt drive mated to a 21 tooth front sprocket and 47 tooth rear sprocket. Electronic ignition replaces the outdated magneto for easy starting and reliability.
The overall look of the Red color on the bulky 5 gallon Gas Tank gives it a proper purposeful racing look. This machine is offered for sale to finance a 1000cc T150 based Triton currently underway. I will change the three valve covers, Primary, Gearbox, and Timing with Polished Items. Also will supply a rebuilt chrono tach and drive cover.(and rebuilt speedo and new drive) Gas and oil tank are aluminum as well as the fenders and rims. This bike has covered less than 50 miles. Since these photos, other detail work has been performed. The approximate parts cost alone is estimated at 12,800.00. It would cost another 5-6 Grand for the labor to build this beast, so the buy it now of 17,500.00 is reasonable and the reserve of 15,500.00 is certainly reasonable for a bike of this calibre. If you are looking for an extremely unique machine, this is it. You just don't see bikes like these very often, even at the larger vintage events.
As always, if you have less than 5 Ebay transactions or less than a 95% approval rating, please email me before bidding. I will answer all questions promptly via email. Good luck with the bidding, someone is going to bring home an awesome piece of machinery.
A Bill of Sale will be provided with the bike(no title, you don't need one in GA and many other states to register it for the street), so check with your individual state before bidding please.
