1967 Mercury Comet GT
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
For your consideration: An ultra-rare 1967 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT Convertible. The questions begs to be asked, "When was the last time you actually saw one of these?" The answer probably is, "I haven't", since the total production for this car was an amazingly low 378 units..period! And there was only 76 units built with these Paint/Trim codes. The reason, I suspect, for the low production, was that Mercury came out with the Cougar in 1967, and people seemed to want the Cougar more than the Comet. Also, 1967 was the swan song for the full-size Comet too. All these factors come together to make this car incredibly rare and desirable. It also doesn't hurt that it's a convertible, powered by a very healthy 390-4V, and backed with a C-6 automatic transmission. The 390 starts right up and runs smoothly, with no smoke. The C-6 shifts just like it should, but I will mention, that if the car sits for an extended period of time, it will leak some fluid. But then, most old cars do! As far as the engine and tranny being matching, We honestly haven't checked, but I would assume they are. If you really need to know, we can try to get the numbers for you. The car has very nice paint in the factory original Cardinal Red. It does have some nicks and chips here and there, because the car is actually driven! As far as the body is concerned, the quarter panels and the floor pans haven been professionally replaced. To our knowledge, that is the only sheet metal that is not original to the car. Also, you will notice in the Marti Report that the top has been replaced. The original top was black, but the previous owner replaced it with a new white top. The convertible top is very nice, with no discoloration, and the back glass is in fine shape too. The original fiberglass hood is in very good shape also. The interior is in the original black, and has no rips or tears in the vinyl. The mileage on the car is 76,780, and those should be original miles. Please look closely at the pics, and ask questions before you bid! We will do our best to answer them quickly and honestly. It would probably be easier to call the owner, my brother Chris, at 419-615-9072 from 9am 'til 9pm Eastern Time. Or you can e-mail me, Jim, at rocknroar@aol.com. Incidentaly, the car has been stored in a climate controlled room since my brother bought it out of Rockford, Illinois in 2005. Now for the particulars, the car is for sale locally, and the auction could end early because of this. People with less than 10 feedback must contact us before bidding, or your bids will be cancelled. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours after the end of the auction. The car and title will not be released until payment is completed in full to our satisfaction. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. And there is a reserve on the car, but please don't ask what it is. It will not be revealed during the auction, so to keep it fair for all participants. Payment can be made via Paypal, Cashier's Check or Wire Transfer only!! If, for some reason, you can't abide by these stipulations, please do not bid. It will save everybody alot of headaches. The car is being sold as a used vehicle, therefore there is no warranty expressed, or implied. We highly suggest inspecting the car yourself, or having a third party do it for you. The car is located in Northwest Ohio, and we will sell the U.S. and Canada only.
