Up here is a Weber 44mm Single IDF Kit by REDLINE WEBER kit number K1316 (www.redlineweber.com) for a Volkswagen Type 1 engine with dual port heads (meaning each head has 2 intake holes). This means that this kit can fit any Volkswagen Bug, Karmann Ghia, Thing (Type 181) or Bus (Type II, Westie, Camper, Kombi) with an upright fan dual port engine. By model years that would typically be from about 1970 on with TYPE 1 and up to 72 on Type 2 BUT many older cars have been retrofitted with the newer dual port heads. You can recognize a dual port manifold by the fact that it is in 3 peices and a single port is 1 peice. This WILL NOT FIT a TYPE 3 (pancake engine) fast back, square back, or notch back car or a 72 on BUS/TYPE II with a Type 4 1.7, 1.8, 2.0 engine. Other kits will, please ask us. This kit is for those who want more output than a progressive or ICT and who don't mind the drivablility hold backs of a full race carb. This kit is intended for warmer weather and is best suited for a "Toy" and not for transportation. This kit out of the box is intended for use on engines 1835 and larger. It CAN run on other enginesbut will need jetted. This kit comes with a PREJETTED carb, air cleaner, linkage, gaskets, everything you need to mount it. Not all WEBER's are created equal. Anyone can buy a stock IDF and a manifold, call it a kit, and leave you trying to figure out how to tune it. The pictures below show how this kit mounts as well as the full manifold heating, clear to the top of the manifold, offered by REDLINE. This offers a much more reliable set up in cooler weather than an EMPI type manifold where the heat just barely touches the bottom of the manifold runners. We also show the EMPI manifold so you can barely see the heat running through the bottom of it.
