This Vincent Series D is a matching number machine in extremely nice condition. Vincent manufactured only 151 series D Rapides and this is one of the best surviving examples. I have documented ownership history back to 1974. It has never been restored - just a tank respray and seat recover. I replaced the original aluminum fenders with stainless steel fenders in 2003, as well as new cables and exhaust (the original fenders and cables were kept and will be included with the sale). This exact motorcycle is featured in Zachary Miller's "Illustrated Vincent Motorcycle Buyers Guide" as you can see the frame number in one of the close up shots in the book. A copy of the book will be included with the sale.
The engine # is F10AB/2/10807 and has matching cases, both sides stamped G94V. The frame numbers, both front and rear are RD12707. If you know Vincents, then you know that you add 1900 to the engine # and that is the correct frame #. Rest assurred that this is a matching number bike.
For much of it's life this machine has been kept as a museum piece. I have ridden it recently and replaced the battery and fuel valves. The original battery is included as it may be rebuilt. Currently there is a small 6 volt battery in place to allow the bike to be ridden. It is thrilling to ride!
The overall condition is excellent. The tank is beautiful and the Vincent decals are outstanding. The chrome and aluminum pieces are in great condition. The frame still has the original paint and there are just a few minor blemishes. There is no corrosion to speak of at all - this has been kept very carefully in a climate controlled environment. The pictures speak for themselves.
The electrics will need a little work to sort out the lights - perhaps a loose connection. This is pretty much all it needs mechanically.
I have set the reserve at a very realistic level as I am serious about selling it. I do not have a buy it now price - please don't ask me to end the auction early. The successful bidder will need to paypal $2000 within 48 hours and the balance by wire transfer. I have a Florida Title in my name. I will assist in shipping but the buyer will need to make all the arrangements. The bike is located near Tampa, Fl about 20 mikes from the airport.
A word please about feedback - I have had well over 400 transactions on eBay over the years and received only 1 negative comment from some bloke who did not read the description, nor see a minor scratch on a $100 stainless steel luggage rack. Since eBay has recently changed their feedback policy to only calculate the percentage based on the last 12 months history my rating is what it is, rather than what it should be. If you have any concerns at all please take the time to read the comments from folks I have bought and sold with.
