Vehicle History Report Summary for 1971 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1971 VW VOLKSWAGEN HARDTOP WESTFALIA CAMPMOBILE CAMPER VAN. What a year, 1971, first year for the front disc brakes, so it could stop now. First year for the 1600cc dual port engine. Last year for the economical upright fan Type 1 engine. Last year of this body style Bay Window bus. ATTENTION restorers and VW enthusiasts, want a truly rust free example of this vintage? This is it, from the high desert of dry Nevada! The original undercoating has lost its flexibility and is now starting to flake off, like a vintage Porsche I have, only to reveal the superb rust free painted metal work underneath. The only rust to be found are little surfaces spots on the front bumper, and underneath the battery, both very easy fixes. You would be hard pressed to find as nice a base for a resto project as this, anywhere. We all know how important this is. In fact, this is the best rust free example I have ever owned, Porsche's or VW's. This van has had one respray, quite awhile ago, as best as I can determine, in the original color. I can't find any previous accident damage or bondo. One area on the left rear side has a slight scrape/crease that should fill with a skim coat in that area. The engine has the original case, number AE 427907. New carb (needs a little adjustment for slight flat spot in low to mid range), aftermarket air cleaner, new fuel pump. Starts right up, has good power. I have the original oil bath air cleaner as well. Odometer reads 79,351. I'm sure this has turned over due to vintage of vehicle? M code plate behind driver's seat has this info: 12 241 159 518 697 523337 A02 P31 507 517 24 6 7324 UN 2310 21 Door jamb sticker says manufacturer date of 06/71. Vin is 2312241159. The cabinets need a little re-glueing of some of the formica, some work or replacement of the white cabinet edge strips. Upholstery is a mix of original yellow vinyl and replaced blue denim. Pop top canvas is best replaced rather than repaired due to age of the original, as well as the pop top seals. I have the canvas cots, including front child cot. . Pop top fiberglass has a 2.5" diameter area on left side that needs repair, an easy fix. Sink needs spigot on faucet, and a cap on water holding tank, but has the original vent system to the pop top , as well as the undercarriage body crossover drain pipe, a rare intact feature which hasn't been ripped off, while driving over the years. Turn signals and column switch need some wiring work. I have another turn signal assembly. Also have a nice rear side cabinet door in good shape to replace the delaminated one. Aftermarket radio and discretely mounted speakers in front kick panels, instead of hacking the door panels. Have new aftermarket antenna, and driver door window regulator handle. Needs inside sliding door handle. Jalousie windows need new knobs. Pop top needs new rubber hold down ties. Brakes and tires good. Transaxle shifts fine thru all gears without popping out. Windshield has a couple of small star cracks. Rear lift gate inner plywood shows delamination from water leak thru rear windshield weatherstrip crack? "BONUS": I have an original "drive away" side tent. The tent needs a little work, mainly the bug screens and maybe a pole or two. Couple small holes in tent bottom. I originally bought this for my teenage daughter, but she will have nothing to do with it. What do kids know? So, I'm selling it to buy her some 4x4 Jap crap. I'm willing to work with overseas buyers the best that I can. Payment in full is required before it moves from its current location. I will help if I can to get it to a shipping port, but all transportation costs are that of the buyer. My closest shipping port would be San Francisco, or Oakland. I am approximately 212 miles from San Francisco. Non refundable deposit within 24 hours, U.S. $500, via Paypal, or certified funds. Balance via bank wire transfer, or certified bank funds, subject to clearance, or cash in person, within 7 days. Buyer to make contact within 24 hours. I have a clean Nevada title in hand. I may be able to store for a little while while shipping arrangements are being made, so contact me if you think you will need some time. No feedback, or negative feedback bidders contact me before bidding. Non performing bidders will be reported and dealt with by eBay. Please ask questions before bidding. Do not bid if you do not have the funds in hand, or are unable to follow through with a sale. This costs sellers alot of money and time to list a vehicle for sale. Good luck, and happy bidding! This is a re-list due to non paying bidder. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
