Vehicle History Report Summary for 1973 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Campmobile
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
NO RESERVE **update*** Just got her back from the shop and she no longer has any problems with hills of any kind! :) She had an air leak and it is now repaired. We did, however, discover an exhaust leak which, at this time, I can't swing but I'm told it's a couple hundred more to repair that. Sooo... she's loud but she runs great! OK... she does appear to still be having *some* issue with hills... she's my first bus sooo...maybe it's normal. :) Just wanted to update ya'll! Her name is Sky AKA Bussy (met one of her previous owners right here in Tucson) and she's a totally renovation worthy specimen that I simply don't have time to pamper. This next paragraph no longer applies, but for the sake of full disclosure I will leave it here... She runs, but has a current "issue" with hills... I mean any hill at all. Slight incline? Sky sees a mountain and loses speed. Hopefully this is a slight, small, even impish issue, but it is a current one... so please don't plan to fly in and drive her back to Memphis... cuz she won't get you to the freeway without some coaxing and a few temper tantrums. Last time we tried a freeway short cut she had what equals to a full on melt down in people terms. That being said... the mechanical Gods assure me that nearly everything underneath her skirt is new or nearly so. (We do have a tentative appointment with THE leading authority on these oh so collectable contraptions and will update listing if/when we figure out her problem) She appears to have come originally from Oregon, but has lived at least the last 15 or so of her years here in Tucson. I haven't seen a full pop-top like this around in a looong while. Not sure if that makes her rare or not, but thought it note worthy. Also note worthy is the condition of the pop-top... canvas GOOD, screen material attached to canvas BAD. Carpet is way after market and shabby but if you're wanting her as your groovy A to B, runaround gal I will include... free of charge... a remnant of blue industrial type carpet! AND THAT'S NOT ALL FOLKS! :) You get some mighty stylin' stickers of various size and design already installed by at least 3 of her previous drivers! I bought her from a very nice couple that wandered her around errant mountain villages in the company of their brood up until I got her in July 09. And if I didn't need something just a bit more reliable right now right now... I'd be keeping her. The parts that I am told are new or nearly so are as follows- fuel filter, fuel pump, carburator, ignition coil and battery. Just got a tune and oil change a few days ago but the maintenance records that dated back to the original owner were stolen from the foks that I got her from... but having met them and the owner previous to them I am confident that she has been well maintained. The pictures shall speak to her beauty and blemishes but, if you have any questions or need any other pics at all feel free to drop me a line. Some other note worthy um... notes... She appears to have original seats and hubcaps. The headliner in the cab and in the rear are in very good condition, as are both (immaculate) front seats. Rear seat and pad appear to have been recovered or replaced but back seat belts are there. The foam pad in upper sleep compartment is original and in fair condition. The tye-dye curtains were hand crafted especially for her when she was known as Bussy and are included, again, at no extra cost to you as well as the curtain rods (which were removed for photos). Gear box needs work. Body damage isn't major but isn't minor. Somebody keyed her up years ago. There is AZ rust, but it's surface or edge only. All in all she's a fun little attention getter who deserves to live in a hill free land, where busses are allowed to roam ... sigh. Payment will be expected within 7 days of auction close for this item. Buyer assumes all shipping costs... please, don't think that she will make a long trip on her own. Not exaggerating on her current condition. I got her to pass emissions a month ago and she ran fine until about 2 weeks ago when the afore mentioned issue first reared its ugly head. Please arrange for pick up/shipping within a reasonable time frame. Parking is tight around here right now. _____________________ A few more things about her... she gets 15 miles per gallon. The radio works but when I turned her over to a friend who then "fiddled" with her fuses... thanks pal... it no longer turned on. Probably not getting power. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
