This is a 1976, Type 2 Transporter Bus, being sold "as is." I'm using this term since I don't have work receipts before 1985, and I haven't had it long. We've decided to concentrate on finishing our 1973 Transporter. We have a transporter for the huge amount of space inside to transport items or people, and they're pretty fun to drive. If you're not acquainted with VW buses, please read up on them before coming to see ours.
Cosmetics: Transporters aren't easy to find since they're so useful for everyday life. They can also be used for camping, but please note, these are not campers; there are no items like a stove or sink. The exterior colors are red below and white above; interior is white with black upholstery and flooring. There are small scrapes, scratches in the body and on bumpers; and minor damage to the front. There is a black bra that a previous owner put on bus front. This transporter bus is a "walk thru," meaning it has 2 seats in front and a bench seat in back (no middle bench seat). The headliner and general condition of the upholstery, dashboard and flooring is average for its age with some small tears. The sunroof doesn't work with its crank, but you can open and close it manually.
Mechanics: We just had Kombi Haus do a safety check, oil change, tune up, adjust valves and torque heads; regular maintenance was done to get it smogged by previous owner. Minor damage to bus front (under bra) affected heater which needs work and is non-op. It has been lowered some, not extremely. Everything works with lights, heater, wipers, blinkers, etc. Work receipts are dated back to 1985. The engine is fuel injected, and has an exterior oil cooler, for long trips (see pictures). Engine: H4, 1.6L, 97cid, gas, carb. This bus has only 68,000 miles on it, and it starts right up. I've driven it to work often since buying it. Tags are good until August 2010. Payment is through PayPal. Email questions, or to see & test drive bus.
