Greetings,
Up for bid is a very clean 1978 VW CAMPER RIVIERA. The cousins of the Westys and the ultimate Kampmobile! Very collectible. This bus was garaged most of its life and it definitely shows. My kids and kids in my neighborhood love this bus. And i have seen a lot of VW bus and almost never in this condition. It is like a playhouse. It sleeps 2 in the top and 2 in the bottom. The bottom seats folds flat. It has removable table. Runs and drives good. Goes on freeway 60-70 mph very well and gets 20-23 mpg. It went to a 4000 mile trip last year. Engine is 1600cc and could use a good tune-up. Parts are readily available. Brakes works well, headlight works, wiper works, horn works, turn signals works. It has AM/FM/CD player, original manuals, books, repair manuals, diagrams, glass is in excellent shape no cracks. etc. It's a great bus to start with, very solid and definitely not trashed like most buses you'll see. The clutch could use a replacement or adjustment. But shifts ok when running. It starts right up and drives straight.
Interior is very nice and clean. Has nice wood floors and really adds a very nice touch. The kitchen sink was taken out and replaced with different shelving with correct era materials. This was done by the previous owner to add extra space for storage and longer trips. It still have the extra seat cushion. The original uphosltery is in great shape, no rips no tears. The front seat are in very nice shape, no tears, no rips. The door panels are in very good shape. Interior paint is beautiful, still shiny in the cab. Pop-top is in great condition. No rips in canvas. It has the original awning that folds completely. No rust worries.
Body is in really good shape. Has had one repaint on the original cool Apple Green (sage green) about 4 years ago. Shines beautifully! Very eye-catching. Has been well loved and taken cared of. Body has minor dents in the bottom of front drivers door. Theres a scratch in the passenger side. Has one crack in the paint in the passenger rear and a one bubble in the rear behind the bumper about 1-inch diameter. Nothing that would take away the beauty of this bus! Tires are in good shape, has nice chrome center caps.
Overall a very nice bus and deserves the love it needs and definitely needs to be enjoyed! A very rare find at this price will be gone soon. Locally listed. Seller reserves the right to cancel auction early.
