1980 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

Up for bid is a great little camping / traveling machine. Although it
started life in 1980 with an air cooled, 2000 c.c. engine, it has been
upgraded like no other. The engine was just rebuilt (approximately 200
miles on the new engine). When I rebuilt it, I used very high
performance racing parts. Has a new forged crank, new forged rods,
newer aluminum racing pistons. Newer (and larger) cylinders bring the
engine size up to a 2600 c.c. engine (better than a 30% increase). As
if all that wasn't enough, this thing is also fuel injected with
computer controlled tuning. You can literally lean the engine out while
driving for better fuel economy and better performance. You will not
find another in this condition! Drive every other westy van before you
come drive this one and you'll notice a huge difference in power and
performance. The van also has a brand new clutch (the old one was doing
just fine, but I didn't want to worry about replacing it so while I had
the engine out, I replaced the clutch). Newer brakes. The transmission
is an upgraded 5-speed manual transmission (again, better fuel mileage
and better performance). Only has about 40,000 miles on the
transmission. I built this thing to last forever and had planned on traveling all over the West coast. Plans change and your loss is my gain. Now, for the interior. Upgraded motorhome seats are super comfortable in front (they're worth $750 each and in new condition). The interior is nearly pristine. Really comfortable and clean. Has the full Westy kitchen to include sink and fridge. Here's another addition you wont find on other westy's - a furnace! Thats right, for cold winter camping, just turn up the thermostat and have all the comfort of home. Two beds will sleep up to 4 adults comfortably. This van also has an extra propane tank installed so you won't have to worry about running short of propane. Tires could definitely use a replacement soon. Only other disclosure that I have is the van does have an oil leak (it is almost impossible to build these engines with no leaks). I believe the oil leak is coming from the oil pump. With so many engine upgrades, I have a very high performance oil pump (also upgraded from factory original) and it makes incredible oil pressure. If you know anything about air cooled vw engines, you know that good oil pressure is everything in making these engines last. Anyway, the pump seems to have a minor leak. You could either be particular about it and get it fixed, or just accept it and watch oil levels closely (which you should do anyway if you want an air cooled engine to last). The paint is also not pristine. Not bad, but does have some areas of wear. I am happy to show this van to anyone who is interested. In fact, I highly recommend that you take a look at this incredible little van. Test drives recommended - once you see how comfortable it is and how powerful the upgraded engine is, you'll be sold Email with any questions.
