Thinking of a cool vintage Microbus?
Go on, give up and give in - Bid Now!
You are bidding on a nice 1964 VW 13-Window Microbus Deluxe, carefully restored inside and out with beautiful color and original charm that will grab attention wherever it goes. It is a remarkably attractive survivor that features its original deluxe exterior trim and a gorgeous, original-style handcrafted custom interior that will certainly please its new owner. Its powertrain, mechanicals and electrical system have been thoroughly inspected and adjusted, and it features a new original-style headliner, original-style interior panels and cab kick panels, and beautiful color-keyed seat upholstery, all professionally installed. This eye-catching Microbus presents an opportunity for the new enthusiast to climb aboard the current vintage VW Bus craze with a colorful, original-style early VW Bus at a very reasonable price. And, at my own expense, I will deliver this attractive vintage Microbus to the winning bidder anywhere in the Continental United States via licensed, bonded and insured auto carrier. Major advantages: · Very good exterior appearance – in turquoise blue and pearl white. · Very nice, very clean original-style interior – hand-stitched and professionally installed. · 1500 single port engine with new alternator – freshly serviced and adjusted. · The extraordinary advantage of free delivery to you. Other special items: · New original-style vinyl headliner. · New carpet kit in cab, and passenger compartment. · New carpet in rear hatch area. · Newly refurbished speedometer with zero miles (original speedo had 29,238 miles showing when replaced). · New Hella front turn signal lenses. · New original-style stainless steel mirror arms. · New original-style right and left outside rear view mirrors. · New chrome hubcaps. · New knee-protector rubber. · New wiper blades. · Original early bus middle seat. · New Wolfsburg Crest front seat belts. · New tag light lens. · New EMPI Quiet-Pak chrome-tipped exhaust system. · New alternator. · Original-style ignition key operates all door and hatch locks. · Original deluxe jailbars over rearmost side windows, and rear window. · Original deluxe clock (inoperative). · Chrome radio delete plate. · Deluxe horn button. Mechanically, this Microbus needs absolutely nothing. You can hop right in and go anywhere, provided you are not in too big of a hurry. It is powered by a 1500cc single port engine – the same size and strength that it had originally - that starts instantaneously, purrs like a kitten, and sounds exactly like it should. Those who have taken a spin in it with me agree that it affords the enthusiast with the original ride and drive you would expect from a stock 1964 VW Microbus. All in all, just as it did forty five years ago, it has plenty of juice to run around town effortlessly, and its original gear reduction boxes make the safe top end cruising speed approximately 60 mph. Yes, 45 horses eagerly await you. Here is a summary of work we recently performed to keep the Microbus running true to speed:
Tires are 85%. The Microbus rides on four P195/75/R14 All Season white sidewall radials. Its spare tire is safely secured in the tire well below and behind the front bench seats. Underside is original and un-restored. Exterior-wise, this attractive 13 Window Deluxe Microbus will catch everyone’s eye with its cool colors – Pearl White over Turquoise Blue. It was disassembled and repainted inside and out, and reassembled with new rubber everywhere. It has its original Hella headlight lenses, and replacement Hella front turn signal lenses. All of its original deluxe beltline trim, rocker spear trim, and trim end caps are present and accounted for, along with new green color-keyed rubber inserts. There is no evidence of any collision repair. Overall, this cool Microbus looks very nice, crisp and straight, as you can see from the photos. Bumpers and wheel rims were repainted to match the upper body color. Interior-wise, you will not find many vintage VW Microbuses displaying an original-style color-coordinated interior that is as good, comfortable and as clean as this one. It has a new headliner with no rips or tears. All seat upholstery, kick panels, interior and door panels are very nice, are free of rips and tears and are of the best quality materials available. It has a rare, original early bus 2/3rds middle seat, has good, solid floors (see photo) with a nice, color-matching carpet kit. The dash and parcel tray remain uncut and are still clean and nice. Front windshield glass, VW Sekurit door, pop-out, side and rear window glass, and Hella headlight and turn signal lenses are free of chips or cracks. Pop-out window latches open and close properly. Electrical system is still its original, more reliable 12-volt system, as verified by the M-code plate. 12-volt electricals did not become standard fare in the Microbus until the 1967 build year, so the fact that this one was born 12-volt rather than the weaker 6-volt variety is a plus and somewhat of a rarity. All interior and exterior lights, including low and high headlight beams, turn signals, dome light, tag light and dash indicator lights are in good order. It has a newly refurburbished speedometer that I installed to replace the ailing original speedometer, which showed 29,238 miles. True chassis miles are unknown. New Interstate battery with new battery tie-down kit. Ventilation and heater controls are fully functional. New Wolfsburg Crest front seat safety belts are present and operational. All doors, including passenger compartment doors, cargo and engine doors lock and unlock, open and close properly. All door locks are operated with original VW keys.
