This is a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GLS TDI Turbo Diesel 4 Door Hatchback. I purchased this vehicle from a sales company in North Carolina in April of 2007. At that time the Vehicle had 193,000 miles. The sales company purchased these VW Diesel Golfs due to the unbelievable gas mileage they achieve. This sales company used this vehicle to make almost daily trips from North Carolina to Atlanta Georgia. As a result, the miles are nearly all highway miles. Over the past 2 and a half years, I have used this vehicle to make long distance commutes to and from work on a daily basis. When I purchased the car, amazingly, it still had the original clutch. I knew at the time of purchase that it would need to be replaced soon. Since the original purchase, I have fixed/ upgraded the following items on this car: 1. Replaced the ENTIRE clutch system including disks. 2. Replaced the Brakes. 3. Recently replaced the old battery. 4. Recently replaced the tires with Goodyear brand. 5. Replaced Belts and Hoses. 6. Added an new XM/CD player with upgraded speakers. 7. Added fog lights. 8. Added a K and N premium air filter that never need replacing, only cleaning.
I have maintained the car regularly with oil changes using the reccomended oil only. THIS CAR DOES NOT BURN A DROP OF OIL BETWEEN CHANGES. Since it is a diesel, the engine can last MUCH longer than a gasoline engine. The gas mileage is simply increadible. Every time I fill up with fuel, I hit the trip meter to see how many miles I can squeeze out of a single tank of gas. This car has nearly a 600 mile range on a single tank of fuel. I ALWAYS get over 540 on a single tank. This is better than many Hybrid Vehicles on the highway. This car also surprisingly has great tourque, which translates well to acceleration. I am adult who is a non-smoker, so no worries with any odor. I recently accidentally bumped into an excellent deal on a 2004 Honda Civic with low miles, so I decided to pull the trigger. I still, however, find myself driving the VW nearly as often as the Civic. The VW gets better gas mileage, has better A/C, and a MUCH better sound system than the Civic. i cannont keep both vehicles however, and I plan on making some upgrades to the Civic as soon as I sell the VW. If you have any questions at ALL please feel free to contact me at tmullis32@hotmail.com. Or simply contact me through E-Bay. If you are serious about purchasing I will provide a phone number so I may assist with any questions you may have. Good Luck!
