Vehicle Description

Too much to list here but I'll get the main points as most of you Norton fans will know what you are looking at. This is titled a 1971 bike with a 74 850 motor in it. The motor was rebuilt about 500 miles ago with all new head components including new exhaust threads by Colorado Norton Works. New headers and exhaust pipes. New Taylor head steady. Manx style aluminum tank. Avon tires like new. Akront rims laced to original hubs. Everything is polished. Good battery. New Amal carbs. Belt drive conversion. Basically all the typical goodies one does to modernize these bikes. She runs and handles great. This is a cafe racer so it has Colorado Norton Works rear sets along with clip-ons. No turn signals but all lights work including brake lights. The original harness was not cut should one wish to revert back to stock one day. The only known issues with the bike are two pencil eraser sized dings on front right of fuel tank, a missing rubber band strap for securing rear of tank, speedo cable is broken but I have a new one to include with the sale, and a missing battery strap. Otherwise she does not need much. It was never painted so the side covers are original black paint which is OK looking and the cafe seat which was salvaged from another cafe racer project and is nice but not finished to any sort of show standards but matches the overall patina of the bike. She was put together to be driven and can be enjoyed immediately or taken to the next level of detail by the new owner. I made an aluminum glove box for spare plugs and/or cell phone which you can remove if you do not like. I think it fits and looks retro enough and is very useful. Mechanically she needs nothing. She is jetted for my high altitude of 7000 feet which is 180 jets. Sea level is high 260 so I will include two size choices with the sale and they are simple to swap out although you may need to tinker to find the right setting for your altitude. Like any British machine she weeps a bit of oil around the belt case seal and occasionally can require just the right amount of choke and tickling to start in cold weather but fires up nicely when it is warm outside. If there is anything else that comes to mind I'll add it to the list as the auction progresses. Please email with plenty of questions or to request my phone number. Like any old motorcycle there can be unforeseen problems that can happen anytime anywhere so please, enthusiasts only, this is not a first time bike for anyone as she is quirky and one needs to learn all the nuances of British bike ownership. I can help arrange shipping if you have never done it before but plan on around $500-600 depending on the company and distance. Keep in mind all the high end parts on this bike and the fact that she is mechanically tight - you could not build this bike for the price it will sell for.
