1956  FACEL  VEGA

RARE!!!

RARE!!!

RARE!!!

HOW MANY HAVE YOU EVER SEEN?

HOW MANY HAVE YOU EVER SEEN FOR SALE??

NOT MANY I'M SURE - THESE CARS HARDLY EVER COME TO MARKET.  THEY ARE THE PRIZED POSESSIONS OF MANY COLLECTIONS!!!

DO YOUR HISTORY RESEARCH BEFORE BIDDING OR CALLING ME ON THIS CAR - IT IS ONE OF A FEW HAND BUILT LUXURY CARS BUILT BY FACEL DURING ITS 10 YEAR PRODUCTION OF THEIR OWN CARS WITH A PREVIOUS HISTORY OF BUILDING BODIES FOR FORD, JEEP, SIMCA AS WELL AS JET ENGINE PARTS ETC, ETC...  THIS CAR WAS BUILT TO BE THE HIGHEST QUALITY HAND-BUILT CAR IN THE MARKETPLACE IN THAT ERA WITH A LIST PRICE EXCEDING $7500 IN 1955.

NO ONE WILL BE GIVEN THE SERIAL NUMBER TO THIS CAR EXCEPT THE WINNING BIDDER -- NO SCAMMERS OF ANY TYPE WILL BE ENTERTAINED!!!

I BELIEVE ALL THE INFO TO BE TRUE - BUT I AM NOT AN EXPERT!!!

One day when I was a kid my dad went to buy a Shelby and couldn't take me with him becuase the guy was a real recluse and didn't like company - especially kids.  When he came home he told me the guy had a car he thought I'd really like to have but the owner would not sell it.  He told me it was a Facel Vega.  So I found a book on them and immediately got hooked on it's heritage.  Well, I had a habit of stopping at the grocery store every Tuesday morning and getting the Auto Trader on the way to school and this car was in there.  I begged my dad to buy the car and now over 25 years later I still have not done one thing to it.  When we got it home I drove it around the block and the brakes were really bad.  I couldn't ever seem to find anyone to help get the parts I needed - and then we decided we wouldn't do anything to it until we could devote the time and money to fully restore it correctly.

The car was in one of my parent's garages until a couple years ago when we moved it to my car-port for a year, then I enclosed the porch with the car in there.  There is not any door going into this porch - so we will have to cut a hole to get the car out...

As far as I could find this is one of 73 FV2B models ever made by FACEL.  It was actually built in 1955 as a 1956 model.   As far as I know the only exterior work ever done to it was repainting and a color change from silver/blue to black.  There is some rusting in the spare tire area, some around seat mounting area, little at bottom of right 1/4 and bottom at front lower fender lip.  The red leather is soft and would probably be fine with cleaning and conditioning.

KEEP IN MIND:

RARE SUPER-CAR OF THE 1950s!

YES IT'S A HEMI!

OFF THE ROAD SINCE 1978!

RARE OPPORTUNITY TO BID AND BUY!

BY THE WAY - YES WE CAN DELIVER ALMOST ANYWHERE WITHIN US FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE.

UPDATE

A lot of you have asked me to call you, and I'm working on calling each of you - but I won't finish tonight..

FYI:  To the bidders outside of the US, yes I will sell you the car - as long as you can abide by my rules of picking the car up at my house in person or by representative  - US CASH ONLY before the wall comes down to get the car out.

For this auction - you are bidding for the car in the pictures - AS IS - no other parts, items or accessories.

I do not intend on ending the auction early - show me what it is worth to you and if you don't meet my reserve we may talk after the auction ends.

Thanks for all the messages.

Sincerely,

Mike

UPDATE INFORMATION:

TITLE:     This car is being sold on a State of Georgia Bill of Sale and Georgia Registaition Certificate.  The state of Georgia does not issue titles for cars older than 1986.  You may have to explain this to your local tag office, and once they verify it they have to give you a title for it if you live in a "title-state".

VIEWING THE CAR:     I prefer everyone that wants to view the car to come see it this Saturday or Sunday.

BUY-IT-NOW PRICE?     I've had some offers MUCH HIGHER than its current bid.  I can assure you the reserve is A LOT MORE than the current bid - and the offers.  Unless someone is willing to spend a lot of money to have this in their collection I plan to keep it.

WHY ARE YOU SELLING IT?     Time to get out of Atlanta and all the troubles of a big city - moving out to the country.  So my automotive business, house and the majority of my cars will be sold to make this happen.

Q: Is there a problem with Vin number? Strange not to give to interested bidders.
A: No problem - other than I am too parinoid to trust giving that information to anyone other than the person that actually buys the car. I do not want any money from anyone until they actually put their hands on this car and... Continue reading
