The main changes for 2005 involved the navigation, communication and entertainment electronics. The copper wiring network supporting the information and entertainment features was replaced with a new fiber-optic harness. This formed the basis of the new M.O.S.T system (Media Orientated Systems Transport), a multimedia fiber-optic network connecting several systems needing to communicate. For example the GPS navigation has to work with the security system, the car telephone has to work with the entertainment system so it will mute when a call is received, voice activation and hands-free speakerphones require a microphone, and a display is needed for navigation and DVD playback to name just a few.

The navigation screen was replaced with a new low-temperature polysilicon VGA (video graphics display) screen with 3.5 times higher resolution than the LCD screen it replaced. The new display is touch sensitive, with the ability to control several vehicle systems through a combination of hard and soft buttons. In addition to the usual trip computer functions such as fuel consumption, tank range, average speed and the like, a new 4x4 Driver interface  was introduced that graphically displays vehicle settings and positions, such as the angle of the front wheels, the suspension setting and direction of travel. This is quite useful in off road driving conditions such as slogging through deep mud ruts.

The new GPS premium navigation system for 2005 was DVD- rather than CD- based and incorporated voice activation. One DVD contained maps for the entire continental United States, compared with 8 CDs for the earlier system. It uses not only GPS signals, but dead-reckoning and map-matching techniques to guide you when the vehicle loses sight of the GPS satellites as happens when in a tunnel or in dense tree cover etc. The off-road mode guides you to your destination by degrees and keeps track of where you've been by setting trace points which can be followed when returning to your start point.

The new harman/kardon® LOGIC7™ surround sound system had 14 speakers using 710 watts of digital amplification. A six-disc CD changer in the glovebox could play MP3 formatted discs as well as regular CDs. The system could be controlled three ways: by voice command, steering wheel controls or the touch screen. The interior of the 2005 model is easy to distinguish from 2003 and 2004 by the nav system and the chrome speaker rings or badges on the speakers which says Harmon Kardon. 

The personal telephone integration system allows owners to use their own mobile phone in the car either via an integrated cradle or with the wireless convenience of Bluetooth™ technology.

As in 2003 and 2004, two wood finishes and six leather colors were available. American cherry or burled walnut wood could be paired with Parchment, Navy, Ivory, Aspen, Sand or Charcoal leather

Luxury Interior Package Edition

Not all 2005 Range Rover's came equipped with this interior. This is the Luxury Package interior a $6800 option. Please take a look at the difference in seating . This model has the "heated accessory package". The model has also introduced Rain Sensor windshield wipers that activate automatically when water is detected, and an integrated cargo area luggage net.
