Sport Rotor 101: Since stock rotors have very poor ventilation it leads to premature warping, brake fade and reduction of the life of the braking components. DRT sport brake rotors are designed to replace your stock rotors and increase brake performance with our cross drilled and slotted rotors. This type of brake rotor is used on race cars and it comes standard only on very expensive European sport cars. Now you can have the same technology for your everyday cars, trucks and SUV's. All DRT sport brake rotors are made from high quality metallurgy. Every rotor is cast in an ISO 9000 facilities. Each rotor is made to the exact OEM specification. Direct bolt-on no modification is required.
Knife Edge Slot: The end of each slot is machined at an angle with a ramp. The ramp helps to channel out brake dust and gasses away from the rotor. Unlike a round slot it is like a wall which traps brake dust and gasses within the slot. Centrifugal force pushes the brake dust outward, the round slot will trap brake dust at the end of the slot. Our knife edge slot has a ramp at the end of each slot which channels out the brake dust.
Powder Coating: Powder coating is a powder base paint. It is applied by using a speical powder coating gun with an electrical charge. The powder is applied to the center hat and outer edge of each rotor. It is baked in a powder coating oven to 400 degress. The powder is melted and baked on to the surface. Powder coat is an equivalent to 6 layers of standard paint. Powder coating is more durable vs paint or zinc plating. The friction surface where the brake pads contact is not coated, which in turn speeds up the bedding process of the rotor and pad. We use a polyester base powder which is designed for exterior use. DRT offer the choice of RED, BLACK, or SILVER to compliment your vehicle and wheel.
