Vehicle Description

This BEAUTIFUL and near flawless 1967 BMW R60/2 has had only one owner since purchased new. The owner was an Aircraft mechanic, who also worked on BMW motorcycles on the side. Obviously, he worked more and rode his BMW less; as it has only 17,531 miles on it. Recently, the owner passed on, and the bike now belongs to his son.

The bike was always stored in a heated garage, with a soft cloth cover over it. It was meticulously maintained its whole life, and properly stored every winter. The engine and frame numbers match. The frame still has all 3 sidecar mounting lugs. The finish is highly glossy, and near flawless; there are NO dents or dings anywhere! All of the aluminum castings are clean and bright. The bike starts easily, runs smoothly and quietly. There is virtually none of the wear and tear you would normally find on a bike of this vintage.

It comes equipped with the larger Touring Tank, with the tool box lid on top. The original tools are included, as well as an original BMW rag and Factory square key for the lid. The bike comes with both the ignition “knob” key, and a steering neck lock key. There is an original hand tire pump in its place on the frame brackets. There is no noticeable wear on the original wide touring seat. The chrome is VERY GOOD on the Denfeld folding luggage rack. The paint is perfect and flawless on the Bates replica fairing, the windshield is new. The Albert Bar-End Mirrors are like new. The battery is the original style and is in good condition. The horn is an aftermarket replacement. Large turn signals have been installed on custom brackets. The handlebars have custom set-back brackets between the handlebar clamps and the top fork clamp, that move them 1” up and 1” back

The exhaust system is in VERY GOOD condition. The headers and crossover are clean and bright, with no rust or pitting. The mufflers are Swerengens, made in the 60’s as “Sport” mufflers for BMWs. They have a nice deep mellow tone, very slightly louder than stock mufflers. They are in VERY GOOD condition.

The saddlebags were hand made by the owner, specifically for this bike. They look like they were professionally made, with perfectly fitting lids, flawless hardware, and perfect and flawless paint. The mounts are very sturdy. The insides of the bags are lined with cloth, to protect whatever contents you carry.

The chrome on the Factory engine guards and mounting hardware is LIKE NEW. The chrome on the rear rim and spokes is VERY GOOD. The front rim has some trace of extremely minor pitting, and a couple of small fingertip size spots of pitting. The spokes are good, but the chrome on them is thin in places. The front wheel cosmetic flaws are only visible from close up. There is a pinhead sized spot of touch-up paint on the on the right front side of the front fender, and a small scratch through the clear coat on the left front side. There are several very small nicks in the pinstripe in various places on the bike. The hand grips do not match, and should be replaced. There is noticeable wear on the rider foot peg rubbers.

In the last 100 miles the following work has been done to ready the bike for sale: clean carburetors and fuel tank. Replace failing ignition coil with a new current technology replica from Bench Mark Works. Valve adjustment and engine tune. New Pirelli tires, with new tubes, front and back. Replaced cardan gasket on final drive to fix leak. Replace fuel tank emblems with new ones from BMW Mobile Tradition.

If you wish to ride the bike home, we are willing to pick you up at no charge from the Columbus Ohio Airport or Bus Station. A 30 Day tag is available at an additional charge.

We are willing to store the BMW at no charge for up to 14 days to allow you time to make arrangements to pick up the motorcycle, or have it shipped.
