If you are looking for a basically brand new 1968 Camaro RS then this is it. This car has approx 420 miles on it since it has been completed and I have replaced everything that I know of mechanically on the car with new aftermarket parts. The car drives and handles extremely well and has a very sporty/powerful feel to it. I will try to list all the components on the car however I am sure a few details will be missed. If there are any questions feel free to write me with you questions or your phone number and I will be glad to write/call you back as soon as possible. I want to make sure you are as happy and knowlegdeable about the car as possible before you bid. The car does have a turbo 400 in it now however it was originally a 4 speed car and still has the pedal and linkage in the car. If you want to switch back this would be a very easy conversion.

Engine:

383 small block chevy with 550 hp. The engine has been professionally built and includes: Chevy 4 bolt main high nickel block "010" casting. 5140 Scat forged crankshaft, 4340 forged rods and 10.8:1 compression forged pistons internally balanced. All ARP hardware. It will run on 93 octane fuel however an octane boost is recommended if you are going to be driving the car hard. Howards solid billit roller cam with roller lifters. Heavy duty pushrods and Scorpion roller rocker arms. Canfield aluminum heads with 2.050 intake and 1.6 severe duty stainless valves port matched and bowls blended. Aluminum Hurricane PP intake manifold with Proform 850 CFM carb. Cloyes cast timing cover with cam thrust button. MSD billit distributor with 6AL ignition box and Blaster II coil. The engine when warm idles around 1000-1100 in park and around 750-800 in gear with a "lopy" quality. New march serpintine pully conversion with one wire alternator, edelbrock water pump and new power steering pump. Hooker super comp ceramic coated headers with a magna-flow dual stainless steel exhaust 2-1/2" Optima red-top battery re-located to the trunk.

Trans:  BTE built turbo 400 with full manual valve body and street/strip 3000 rpm stall converter. New Hurst pistol grip shifter with Line lock wired into the button on the pistol grip. new PST 3" steel driveshaft.

Rear:  Currie Built 9+ housing with extra reinforced 3rd member. Billit pinion support, oversized bearing and TRD posi unit. 31 spline axles narrowed 1" on each side.

Brakes/suspension:  Baer brakes with 13" drilled/slotted rotor in front and 11" drilled/slotted rotors in back. All new stainless steel brake lines and large volume master cylinder. Wilwood proportioning valve tied into the rear brake lines. New ball joints/tie rod ends. PST polygraphite bushings. Hotchkis 2" lowering springs up front and Leaf springs in the rear. Bilstein shocks in front. Competition engineering slide-a-link traction bars in the rear. The car was professionally mini-tubbed in the rear and rear springs moved inward on the back of the car to clear the tires. Competition engineering shocks in rear also mounted on the inside of the springs. This facilitated moving the fuel cell into the trunk. The car also has professionaly welded in through the floor sub-frame connectors which allows you to have sub-frame connectors without lowering the ground clearance onthe car.

Wheels/tires:  American Racing torque thrust II wheels, HUGE - 17x11 rear with BFGoodwrench 315/35r17 tires and 17x8 with 245/45r17 tires in front

Car was completely rewired with painless performace 18 circuit wiring kit including the entire dash and gauges. Be-cool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. New AGR steering gear box which makes the car drive like new!! You can steer with one finger. New stewart werner electric gauges mounted in new gauge pod in car. Programmable speedometer so that you can change gears or tire sizes without having to change the gear in the transmission to correct the speedo. Recall tachometer with shift light.

Body:  Fresh red paint with black stripes. New rocker panels, new deck lid and quarter panels. New fiberglass 2" scoop hood. The paint job is extremely nice considering it is a driver quality car. There are some imperfections/nicks from driving that you can find if you lok closely however you can see from the pictures the car looks excellent.  I have yet to not recieve compliments from the people that view the car.

Interior:  New carpet, rally 1000 sport seats, re-uphostered rear seat, new door panels and new package tray. New sony radio/cd player and speakers. New steering wheel with new horn switch. The driver side currently has a 3" racing style seat belt however the original seat belt will come with the car.

Like I said, any questions feel free to write and I can get back with you usually very fast. If you are looking for more pictures I have several others and can forward them along if you require more. I can help with delivery if that is a concern. I can get the car to a dock where it can be loaded on a truck or I do have a trailer and for a fee can help with delivery if it is not too far away. That being said, I am not going to drive it across country for anyone, my intention is just to help. The reserve I feel is very low due to the way car values are going down lately. To build a car new like this would cost well over 50,000 if you did the work yourself. Happy bidding

Payment:  Buyer to have 1000.00 down payment thru paypal or other methods within 2 days of auction end. Payment in full due within 7 days of auction end unless pre-arranged thru buyer and seller.

On Oct-29-09 at 18:24:56 PDT, seller added the following information:

I just want to let everyone know that the car is located in Stillman Valley, IL area code 61084. This is just 15 minutes south of Rockford IL or 45 miles west of the Chicago suburbs. The ebay listing has it posted as area code 60184 and will not allow me to update that information.

On Nov-06-09 at 18:09:37 PST, seller added the following information:

I have had several questions on how well the car starts up so I am just going to post my response. The car starts up extremely well, usually on the first revolution. There is however a big roller cam in it and no choke on the carburetor so for the first minute you do have to keep the idle bumped up a little bit because it can idle rough. Once the motor gets some heat in it, usually just after a minute, it idles just fine.

On Nov-07-09 at 04:55:25 PST, seller added the following information:

I have been asked a question about the rear picture of the car in regards to the back-up lights. I completely forget to mention this in my description of the car. The car does not have backup lights on the car. At one point in time before I had owned the car the rear panel below the bumper must have been replaced. I have no idea why but new panels must not come with the holes pre-drilled and the previous owner did not have them installed. I did not figure this out myself until after I had owned the car for 8 years. The car had already been thru the body shop and was in the process of having all the new wiring installed. We ended up with 2 wires in the trunk for the backup lights and we could not figure out where they went to. I had always just thought they were in the brake light clusters which I believe is how they are in later model Camaros. Since the body work was already finished I decided just to tie up the wires and leave the car with no backup lights. I want to post this information so that all the bidders could see it before the auction ends and the bids get above the reserve price. All the other lights work fine and the horn works as well and there is not any other items that I am aware of that the car does not have. Sorry for any inconvinience this may cause.
