Motorcycle Headlight Modulator Schematics and Instructions When built and installed, this device just may save your life. It makes your Cycle VISIBLE to the other Vehicles who normally may not see you. A lot of cars today have running lights which even more nulls the effect of riding with your Headlight on. This very well may be the cure. This makes your Bike appear to be a Train with its jiggling Headlight effect. With all parts at hand and a hot soldering iron it takes less than 30 minutes to put it together. At the time, all parts were about $10.00 at Radio Shack. Why spend $100 for an annoying pre-made when you can build a better model yourself for cheap. Skill Level = light moderate to moderate. This is Simple and Easy to build for the average electronics project builder. A friend put mine together for me and he already had all of the very few parts he needed. Like everything else I build he honored my request to build it to last a hundred years which means adding a heatsink. In the plans themselves it suggest you can mount it inside the Headlight. Shipping will be free as I will EMail them anywhere on Earth that has an EMail address. The Pulse Rate of other Headlight Modulators I've seen on the Internet is very annoying, ON-OFF-ON-OFF. This device has a steady Low Beam and a pulsing High Beam but also can be configured to work a number of ways. You can even include Modulator Off switch for riding at night, I did. It looks like the headlight is on but has a Jiggeling Headlight effect like a Train. It works! People in front of you will see you and you can also build one for your Tailight and or sidelights. These plans produce the best Headlight Modulator I've ever seen. All questions will be answered and will be posted at my discretion. HEADLIGHT MODULATORS are legal in all 50 States. If you wish see Federal Law (CFR49) : http://www.gadgetjq.com/headflash_dot_regs.htm I Googled "Headlight Modulator" for free plans. The second Heading I went to threw my Anti-Virus into FULL ALERT. The Virus was quaranteened but the Virus blocked my Internet access, changed my screen settings, and stopped my Mouse from working. It took a Full Virus Scan (1 Hour) and another 40 minutes to restore the mouse, reset my preferences and regain Internet access. Also had to reset the Broadband Modem and the Networker. Ya can't say I didn't try and warn you.
Good Questions asked by odies5: Dear 11thgen,
Ans#1: No, Low beam stays on, High beam flashes on and off at a rate of 4 times per second. Ans#2: 40 years ago the parts cost about $10. Recently I bought parts for the Relay version at a cost of approx $6 (Mom & Pop electronics store). I bought the Relay, a heavt-Duty Diode, a 555 Timer circuit Chip and a 555 Chip holder. Ans#3:Parts are easy to Buy/Find. You probably already have them in your parts bin. Ans#4: Since the high beam of the H4 never has time to cool, I would assume that if is very friendly on the Bulb. I Do Not suggest the relay version as it has moving parts which will wear out in time. Transistors Are Suggested. One could add a Photocell to replace the on-off switch thereby eliminating the need to bother with the Night Time "Switch Off Manually Mode". This would make it fully AUTOMATIC. | ||||||||||||||||
