RANGE ROVER/LAND ROVER 3.5 LITRE V-8 EFI SET-UP ON MANIFOLD WITH WIRING HARNESSES AND TECHNICAL MANUAL I’m cleaning up my shop and came across an early 3.5 litre Range Rover EFI set-up. This would be suitable for an early EFI Range Rover, Land Rover Discovery, 90/110 or a V-8 conversion project for a Land Rover, Triumph, or MGB. It is the complete EFI assembly on the manifold, minus the ECU, with the complete (so I’ve been told) EFI wiring harness and what appears to be a main engine/chassis harness as well. Included (but not pictured) is what looks like the airflow meter. The harnesses appear to be in good nick, except that the cloth sheathing on the EFI harness is frayed. This covering is more cosmetic than anything else, as of course all of the conductors inside are individually insulated. The manifold is as clean as a whistle and has no cracks or signs of warping (I checked it with a straight edge). The best part, from a DIY point of view, is the reprint Land Rover technical manual for the EFI system included. This has extremely comprehensive instructions/diagnostics and complete wiring diagrams. So not only do you get the parts (or most of them) to do an EFI replacement/conversion but you also get the book that explains how all of this stuff fits together and works. Worth its weight in gold to my way of thinking! The reason I am selling this unit is that it came with a running V-8 engine for my 109 project. The engine (minus the manifolds) had been sitting outside and was discovered to be seized. Our “new” engine is an ex-British MOD rebuild with carburetors, so I no longer need the EFI set-up. It was a toss-up between the two, as the EFI engine has more power (165 bhp. for the EFI vs.130 bhp. for the carburetted engine) and is more fuel-efficient to boot. After much debate it was decided that the carburetted version had enough power for our purposes and despite the heavier fuel consumption, its simplicity appealed to my modest mechanical skills.
