1968 Chevrolet C-10
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This auction is for a 1970 GMC truck with 1968 Chevrolet grille, radiator support, and hood. I prefer the sleek look of 1967 and 1968 Chevy front ends and installed these on a truck that I purchased 13 years ago from the original owner. The GMC had 120, 000 miles on it when I rebuilt it 12 years ago. It has 31,000 miles on it since the rebuild. The cab and bed were removed, frame painted, undercoated, fuel tank moved to the rear of the axle (Suburban/Blazer) location, and cab/bed installed with new mounts. Suspension - All new bearings front and rear, new rear axle seals, new brake shoes and hardware on all 4 corners with new wheel cylinders. New Air Shocks on the rear. Driveshaft balanced, new U Joints, and Carrier Bearing. New tires from Sears (60% tread remaining) mounted on new Wheel Vintique wheels (6 lug). Front A-Arm bushings rebuilt and new ball joints installed. New front Sway Bar bushings installed. New Master Cylinder installed. Engine - A 1967 327 cubic inch block was bored and a complete TRW rebuild kit installed. Rotating assembly balanced. Compression is at 9:1 with a pair of 1968 Double Hump heads. The heads are still "small valves 1.5 and 1.9 sizes". New valves, springs, rotators (exhaust), keepers, seals, rockers, and guides installed. The cam is a 300 hp 350 cubic inch item from Sealed Power. The oil pan has a Fel Pro 1 piece seal installed. Oil changed with Synthetic every 3,000 miles or 1 year whichever happened first. The intake is a 300 hp GM cast iron manifold from 1968 (according to the numbers on it). The carburetor is a 600cfm Edelbrock electric choke model. Valve covers are aluminum Corvette and the PVC/Oil fill tube is a 1966 Corvette item. The Alternator is internally regulated and rated at 100 amps. The starter is a heavy duty GM unit rebuilt with heavy duty nose cone and has the stock rear block support. The starter solenoid is a Ford unit installed on the firewall to prevent "hot start" problems in New Mexico summers. Paint/Body - 1968 Chevrolet grille, radiator support and hood installed. Gas tank removed from the cab and 1980 Suburban tank crossmembers installed. New Suburban gas tank installed (32 gallon capacity) and a fuel filler door installed from an S - 10 pickup on the bed side. New frame mounted receiver hitch installed with 6 pin connector. New front grille trim, late model GM truck lower belt trim, and tail gate emblem installed (over the stock GMC tailgate letters). Fog lights installed in a 1972 front bumper in the turn signal holes. Bed stake holes filled. Truck painted Fleet White upper/lower and Metallic Electric Current Red middle. Interior - New carpeting, headliner, door coverings, dash cover and rear cab wall carpeting installed in maroon (photos may show a "false" lighter color). New instrument panel installed with a late model Camaro tachometer. Mileage on new speedometer was 0 miles when the truck was rebuilt so it is NOT the total mileage on the truck. Late model GM buckets were installed and a console built that houses the radio/CD player, sub woofer, cup holders, and fuse block for everything not factory. A CB radio with controls in the hand microphone is under the seat and the antenna mount is siliconed to the back sliding window. A rare factory radio "delete" plate is in the dash (pops out). Bits and Pieces - A very rare factory bed side tool box is in perfect condition and still locks. It was option VK2 and was rarely ordered on these trucks. The dealer installed Safety Recall torque restraint cables are still in place on the engine. The heat riser tin is still in place on the LH exhaust manifold. The cab is factory air conditioned and it works just as new. The Parking Brake is from a 1968 truck and is hand operated. This was so I could put the stereo speakers in kick panel "pods" to prevent any hole cutting in the body. It still has the cover that is usually long gone into oblivion and the parking brake really works. The transmission is a TH-350 that came with this truck and was rebuilt. The bed liner is a Rhino covering. Things Undone - The windshield washer is not hooked up (New Mexico rain is rare). The truck has 12 years of age on the rebuild and 31,000 miles of useage so it has expected road wear on it. The truck is a 2 owner truck that has been in New Mexico its whole life. Since rebuilding it, I have kept it in a heated shop with a battery tender on it when not being used. I am selling it since I really don't drive it anymore. The last 5 years have not seen 3,000 miles put on it. I have every receipt from the rebuild and the Owner's Manual. Become owner number 3 and enjoy a nice old GMC/Chevy. Buyer is responsible for $500.00 deposit within 48 hours. Remainder to be in cash (bank verified locally) or Certified Funds paid within 1 week of auction close. Truck is for sale locally and auction may end at any time. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
