The boss is retiring and he can not take on any more project cars, so his loss is your gain! He has saved these cars for decades but has now ran out of time. 1963 Ford Thunderbird 2 Door for auction. This car has great potential for restoration. The car is complete with engine, transmission and drivetrain mechanical and everything else. Most of the interior is not in bad shape for being in storage. This car has been in storage for many years so there is rust present on the car. This vehicle has not been driven in many years, so it will require work to get it road ready again, but it would certainly be worth it for this American Classic. Other Vehicle Facts: The Thunderbird was redesigned for 1961 with sleeker styling that gave the car a distinctively bullet-like appearance. A new engine, the 390 cu in (6.4 L) FE V8, was the standard and only engine initially offered in the Thunderbird. The V8 produced 300 horsepower and was mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The new Thunderbird was immediately well received with 73,051 sold for 1961. The car was 1961's Indianapolis 500 pace car and was featured prominently in US President John F. Kennedy's inaugural parade, probably helped along by the appointment of Ford executive Robert McNamara as Secretary of Defense.
