This is an original 1967 427cu.in. 435hp factory side exhaust stingray. This is a NOM (Not Original Motor) car. Greg McCluskey bought this Corvette on October 24th 1985 for $4800. It showed about 32,000 miles on the odometer. When Greg got the car from Tim Gumm, he confirmed it had a 6500-RPM Tachometer, an electronic ignition module behind the left front headlight, as well as an 80 PSIG oil pressure gauge, all indicating the 427/435 origin.
This car has had a total frame off restoration several years ago, after being raced in the late 60s and early 70s. The underside, engine compartment and the paint were applied with the body on the purpose built wooden cart,(see restoration photos). The frame was blasted down to bare metal. They followed up the frame prep with a zinc chromite primer and DuPont Imron paint. The rear end in the car had been a Dana, which he replaced with an Eaton.
They had the engine rebuilt and the heads refreshed. It is still in great condition. At the time of rebuild they installed an UltraDyne cam with 292 duration and .570" lift. The electronic distributor checked out fine so it went in as it was.
The instrument cluster was restored with new ammeter, engine temp and fuel gauges. The 80 PSIG oil pressure gauge was sent in for restoring since the 80 pound gauge was no longer available. New face plates and needles were installed on the original speedometer and tachometer.
After moving to Colorado, Greg in about 1994 removed the 308 ring and pinion and installed a 370 gear. He also re camed the motor and redid the heads with hardened seats and new swirl polished stainless valves for unleaded fuel. They have worked perfect ever since. He took quite a bit of advance out of the distributor to eliminate pre ignition with the 11/1 compression heads. Since those modifications, Greg said the Vette has pretty much been turn key.
It was repainted Ermine White. The motor in the car is a 1968 396 with a correct tri-power set up. It has been to many shows in the local area in Colorado and Wyoming.
This car is a stunning example to ride, drive and look at. It will be a very good investment, especially in this price range. We are going to be rebuilding the carbs due to the vehicle being at low altitude in Iowa and not being driven over 800 miles in the past 7 years. (Carbs were just completed and the Vette is now running very strong). These photos were taken immediately after delivery of the stingray and prior to it being detailed at all. This should give you a good idea of what an honest Mid Year Rocket this Corvette is. The interior, stainless, and finish are getting some minor refreshing,(new leather seating, rubber trim, accessory pieces, etc..Please give us a call, (Bill Office: 303-440-9188 / Cell: 303-641-0333) for more information and history..
Thanks,
