handcarved pieces ~ 12" CHESS SET ~ Unique Stone Board

EXCELLENT! This listing is for the pictured chess set handcrafted in the himalayas. It was made a number of years ago by a family I met in Northern India while travelling overland out of Tibet and Nepal. The size set in this listing is 12" x 12" (ask or look in our Ebay Store for other size sets including 6", 8", 10", 14", and 16") For this 12" size set, the pawns are approximately 1 1/2" high and the kings are just under 2 1/2" high. The board with the pieces stored inside weighs approximately 4 lbs 10 oz. The stone used to carve the pieces and the board tiles is a colorful type of himalayan marble found in northern India (much of the artwork in our store including the Buddha statues and marble pots are made from this stone.) These chess sets are totally handmade so please expect some variations and uniqueness in the details. For example some of the pieces can have subtle differences to one and other, be offset at the base or slightly slanted, and have variations in the coloring. The wooden box and metal clasps must be treated with care, wood from India is not of the same high quality as the stone.
