| layaway available, let me know if interested. up for auction is quite a large extra well done portrait limoges lamp. the overall height being a bit over 33 inches, the porcelain component is 16.5 inches. it is marked on the bottom limoges france and signed(initials) by the artist and dated 1904. it was made as a lamp, that was its original purpose and cast that way and for that purpose. it has two parts of porcelain, the bottom base and then the body of the vase or lamp. the front shows a beautiful very scantly clad woman with flowing hair and gown. her hair twirls over her right eye which looked weird in the pictures i thought ,but does not appear that way at all in real life. the entire vase is painted with soft clouds which do not show up well in the pictures. the back side has an adorable cherub in puffy white clouds with powder blue background and all around the cherub and on the sides are butterflies which again do not display well in the photos. it is a gorgeous piece without damage. there is gold wear here and there which is consistent with age and wear due to handling. the pictures are lousy and please request more if you like and i will try to do better. the shade is very very old and is still quite nice, but does show some seams that are becoming loose in a few places. there is a hole in the bottom metal base which can be rotated to see the limoges france mark. if anyone wants to see it, i can send a picture. the base has to be removed and the lamp taken apart to see the artist signature. i should have pictured that when i had it apart one time. anyway, a lamp like this with florals books for over 2000.00 of course this is much rarer and far more desirable. i am starting it for what i have in it. good luck. |
