If you're into astrology, this is the one I know you've been searching for!  This gorgeous old pendant was made in Taxco, Guerrero, the home of the renaissance of Mexican silversmithing during the previous century.  It was made somewhere just after the end of World War II as attested by the "eagle 3" assay mark assuring the sterling purity of the metal.  In addition, it is marked both "925" and "STERLING", along with "HECHO EN TAXCO MEXICO" with "AV" inside the circle formed.  It also is marked "VILLASANA," the mark of Alfredo Villasana, who worked for William Spratling, the "godfather" of modern Mexican silver work; later Villasana moved on to work for one of the most noted Mexican masters, Hector Aguilar.  With niello (bonded carbon) in the recesses, the overlaid relief work is crisp in appearance, even with the advanced greying of the bright metal.  Notwithstanding the grey patina, the metal retains it gorgeous silver luster.  

The pendant disk is about two and one-half inches in diameter, and the bail would add another half inch in drop, as it is roomy enough for all but a logging chain.  The piece weighs about one and twenty-one one-hundredths troy ounces.
