 Technical Notes :
STAR QUAD cable obtains its name from the 4-conductor style construction
that minimizes the "loop area" between twists of the conductors.
This "double balanced" pairing, reduces susceptibility to electromagnetically induced noise.
The improvement in noise rejection is so noticeable.
The 4-conductor Star Quad arrangement, cancels electromagnetically induced noise
from AC power transformers, speaker cable and high voltage cables (non Star Quad or non Twisted pair ).
The typical power output from the phone jack around 1watts RMS (e.g Musical Fidelity X-CANS V3 headphone AMP).
It is very sensitive to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Radio Frequency Interference (RFI)
and electrostatic coupling of hum and noise.
Mechanical vibration, bending, and ambient temperature fluctuations can cause detrimental capacitance changes
within the interconnection cable.
This interconnection cable are carefully designed and manufactured to very close tolerances
using the highest quality materials available so that low voltage power will not be affected
by these outside disturbances.
The difference is clearly measurable and audible.
Speaker cable & power cable (power amplifier) must accommodate relatively high signal levels
and high voltage & current , typically tens to hundreds of watts of RMS power.
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) can radiate from these speaker lines or power cable directly
into adjacent low voltage cables (i.e. This power lead, interconection cable, digital coxial cable, video lines etc.).
The 4-conductor "Star Quad" configuration solves this problem.
Because every conductor is located the same distance from the center,
the opposing magnetic fields are canceled out.
Attenuation of magnetic field radiation is superior when compared to a standard 2-conductor wire.
