Singer 221 Featherweight born November 7th 1949.
Complete package, machine, case, attachments, and book all in great collectable condition if you do not agree return it to me
The feed dogs were adjusted for the proper height and length of stroke as per my origional Singer factory service manuel I recieved during a singer factory training session in 1962.
After the adjustments were made I tested the machine with a size #9 needle on bathing suit fabric. Most Featherweights are not able to sew this fabric. Lycra is a very difficult fabric to sew without skipping stitches, even using any expensive speciality needle. This is because wear with normal sewing and needle breakage often makes the hook point dull. Even if the hook to needle timing is adjusted perfectly with a 2.5 MM timing tool, a featherweight hook must be sharp and free of nicks as is the hook in this special featherweight 221. This amazing Featherweight can sew any kind of stretched fabrics without skipping a single stitch !
Note the leather belt sewn on this wonderful sewing machine. The motor is very very strong, with full control able to sew stitch by stitch even through this thick leather belt. Sewing full speed is no problem it flys and stitches perfectly.
Using a size #11 needle I tested on silk,no puckering and very even perfect stitches.
Then with a size #14 I did a quilting square, perfect 1/4 seam allowance even stitching forward and in reverse.
Finally I used a size #18 needle on my leather belt all passed with no skipped stitches or broken threads.
The 4 rubber tabs on the control and machine bottom were also replaced with originals, soft and in remarkable new condition. The machine comes with a very nice origional case complete with the key. All hinges and latches work properly and the handle on the case is solid and strong.

I have completely refurbished this 221, including a new belt, rebuilding both tensions, check and adjust all the timing settings,clean and oil. Included is a full set of singer 221 attachments origional factory book as well as the perfect portable featherweight book. The new singer cord and origional control is included in perfect condition with excellent rubber feet on the control as well as the 4 new rubber feet on the machine. This machine need nothing every thing has been addressed including installing a new singer needle plate with the seam line built in to it. The origional case is very strong, no odor and all latches and hinges are intact and work well. The case has 1 key and some slight covering damage on 1 end.
