Four Mudman Children Figurine: Four Model Plays

These four adorable mudman children are the product of Shiwan, Guangdong province, China.

A replica of Chinese Cultural Revolution period, it produced in 1980s.

The "Four model plays" (四个样板戏) were the most famous of the few operas and ballets that were permitted during the Cultural Revolution in China (1966-1976). They all have communist or revolutionary themes.

The “Four model plays” are: Shajiabang, Red Detachment of Women, The Legend of the Red Lantern, Taking the Tiger Mountain by Strategy.
