This tin is from Germany with German text and a German eagle embossed on the tax stamp.

The words around the crest are:" Famile Waapens Van Henricus Oldenkott"

The tin measures 4 inches across and is 1 /14 inches high.

I think it still has tobacco inside. I didn't want to force it open but when I shake it it has a soft sound that I imagine tobacco would make.

The gold color edges of the tin have some paint lose. The yellow looks like it will clean up nicely but I only tried one small area. The tax stamp is bright and clear. The copper color of the base also have some paint lose.

Other than the finish the piece is in great shape with no dents or scratches.

I inherited a house full of nice old things from my parents who lived there for 55 years. This is one of them.
