I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF THIS ITEM BUT IT APPEARS TO BE LATE-1940'S. YOU CAN VIEW THE HISTORY OF HENKELL & CO. WINES BY VISITING THEIR HOMESITE http://www.henkell-soehnlein.com/portrait . THE DIMENSIONS OF THE BASKET ARE ABOUT 9.5" WIDE, 5.5" DEEP AND 8.5" TALL. WICKER WITH WOOD SIDES AND LEATHER TRIM. THE SIGN WAS ORIGNINALLY ON THE OUTSIDE, HELD BY TWO COTTER PINS BUT WAS REMOVED AND IS BENT UP AND BROKEN(STILL GOOD TO HAVE FOR AUTHENTICITY). I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS A VINTAGE PURSE BUT A BIT OF RESEARCH SHOWED THAT IT WAS A WINE BOTTLE BASKET. OVERALL CONDITION IS GOOD, SHOWING SOME AGE AND SOME BENDS IN THE LEATHER HANDLE FROM STORAGE. A REALLY UNUSUAL AND NICE OLD WINE COLLECTIBLE!
