With 245 pages and 283 black & white text photos of instruments, Colyer presents the results of many years of research. It deals fully with instruments designed for use in extracting teeth by craftsmen and operators from the days of ancient Greece to the nineteenth century. It traces the development from their crudest origins to the most finished forms of pelicans, keys and forceps, and gives fascinating glimpses of a variety of more curious instruments such as dental screws and instruments to secure extraction in a perpendicular direction.

    The book, which is profusely illustrated and is a classic of its kind, will be of permanent value to all who are interested in the history of dentistry and collecting these interesting instruments. Long out of print and now rarely seen for sale. Very limited edition (only 50 copies have been reprinted).
