Life

April 12, 1900

This issue is unread and uncirculated. Purchased from the accountants for the old Life magazine years ago. Well illustrated with humorous sketches as well as serious issues of the day. Stereotypical views of Irish, Jews, Chinese and Black. Indians were treated the same but sympathetically. Beautiful women grace its pages. Inside: Cover is Porto Rico kneeling at the gate of the trusts begging to be let in by Kemble. Hillis doesn't agree with predestination. The Cuban orphan predicament. Chicago's rich are moving to New York. The South Africa war is costing Britain a pot of money. Heavy teams on Fifth Ave. Simon and Altgeld go fishing for Anti Trusts, anti expansion and free silver. Charles Dana Gibson Cowboys. The end of lent sees the girls race out to the Jewish smut plays (centerfold), Bulldog cartoon. Are Denver and Butte the meanest cities in the U.S.? The Lion and the Boar may be food for the vultures who wait.   Several ads.  Lots of other items.
