Architecture, Boston, NYC, City Dwellings cm855

Oriental Rug Review is pleased to offer an original fiction article from Century Magazine: "Recent Architecture in America, V, City Dwellings, I," by M. G. van Rensselaer. This is an original article from Century, Vol. XXXI, #4, Feb., 1886, 11 pp. (loose), 9 Illustration, 6 1/2" x 9 1/2".

About The Author:

Sculpture of Mrs. van Rensselaer by St. Gaudins

M. G. van Rensselaer, van Rensselaer, Schuyler, Mrs., 1851 1934. In many of her articles she did not openly comment on her gender, signing them simply as M. G. van Rensselaer, but in all of her books she signed herself "Mrs. Schuyler van Rensselaer." She, apparently, thought that her articles on architecture would not have been accepted if her gender was generally known. She wrote many articles and books on architecture and architectural trends.
