21 is based on a true story of M.I.T. students who create a new method of card counting and take that knowledge to Las Vegas to make their fortunes. Composer David Sardy is known primarily for his work as a rock producer, and this high-tension, dramatic piece is his film score debut. Focusing on a classic rock theme with mild jazz overtones, Sardy's expressiveness makes 21 reminiscent of a dutiful Bob Dylan crossed with a raucous Stanley Clarke.
