| ||||||||||||||||||||||
Nineteenth century carte de visite photograph of a view of a port in China showing six sailing ships and buildings around the edge of the harbor. The cdv photo was taken of a painting rather than from life. Under the image there is an inked inscription that reads. "Port View of (illegible name) - China." The cdv measures 3 13/16" by 2 1/2". There is some light brown foxing on the mat, a tiny raised bump in the left side of the image, and a 1/8" diameter white area on the right that is either a scuff or a piece of paper adhered to the surface. On the back there is a lightly penciled notation of "No. 2" and a name or word that I can't figure out.
