This buy it now is for this lovely, hand-woven, hand stitched Antique matress cover! This textile dates from the late 1800's, early 1900's~ Lovely lovely very old European textile, , and made of hand-woven European hemp and cotton mix. It is amazing!! LOVELY very pale ivory tone~ Beautiful textile indeed~ made from the most wonderfully slubby hand woven hemp from Europe so soft and yet full of texture~*The texture on this lovely cover changes so it is full of wonderful hand woven charm!~ ~*~ This amazing Hand-woven European textile would have been used as a mattress cover~ and stuffed with straw for sleeping. The weave is a heavy weight plain weave . The ends are all hand stitched and the center seam is machine stitched~ This lovely textile is made from taking 2 large panels of the lovely linen and sewing them down the middle, it is like a Huge sack. The sides are all hand stitched and there is an opening at the back ( where the 2 panels of hand woven linen were not closed) this is where the straw would have been place through! ~*~* This is where today we could slip in a feather comforter! ~*~ would be AMAZING to sew little ribbons on the opening! . ~~This textile could also be use for the fabric, LOVELY LOVELY. !~ *~* ~*~ pale natural toned hand woven hemp wonderful pale oatmeal. STUNNING slubby nubby weave. Over 5 pounds in weight! ~ this would make the most charming duvet cover for a twin bed or I use one as a large, reading pillow in my childrens room.I simply stuffed it with a large feather comforter, and I use grain sacks against the wall stuffed with feather inserts for the corners. I keep their books on a little shelf near by( my children call them their "nests") ~*~ This would also be wonderful stuffed and used as a soft place to lay in the living room~*~ Or of course, the fabirc would be wonderful used for upholstery, pillows , you name it ! ~*~ I also use one in my daughter's room that has stripes . It remains on the bottom of her bed, and on a chilly night I just pull up! ~~*~ ( please see photograph) ( COVER 29A )

The individual condition will be described to the best of my ability however, often flaws are inherent in vintage and antique textiles. Please email me if condition is vital to your purchase and we can discuss condition in detail. When describing my textiles, I use my best judgment, knowledge and experience to estimate their age. I have had many years of research and hands on experience with these wonderful textiles. I describe items as Antique if I estimate the age to be 100 years of age or greater. EBay currently define an antique as dating to 1930 or earlier. I describe items as Vintage, as per the dictionary definition, if I feel the textile has age, or is outdated or old-fashioned, dating from the past. If I use both Antique/Vintage when describing a textile, it is because I feel the textile is most likely 100 years of age or greater, but may fall just short of that date. I often work in collaboration with other colleagues and textile specialists to ascertain the approximate age of my textiles, however ultimately any statement of age is a matter of best judgment only~*~I also use my best professional judgment to ascertain the fiber content of my textiles, using sight and feel and where possible historical information and context to help me to identify plants used in a particular era. However, because my textiles are old, any statement of fiber content is again always only my best professional assessment. ~*~ I feel privileged and honored to bring these textiles to you, I sincerely thank you for your interest ~*~
