SIMPLY GORGEOUS MERIDEN CASTOR SET

BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN SET IN ORNATE STAND

HAND BLOWN GLASS CRUETS WITH ETCHED MOTIF

ca. 1860- 1890


This is another beautiful Victorian Castor condiment set that is being sold from my Aunt's collection.  Please see the cranberry set we have for sale this week as well.  This set was made in the late 1800's by the Meriden silver co. located in Meriden Connecticut.  This set has the original 6 matching cruet bottles and they are all decorated with the etched feather pattern and they are in great condition.  No chips, cracks or damage to any of the glass.  The silver plate stand has a revolving skirt that turns flawlessly and smoothly. 

The silver plate overall looks to be excellent.  Even the caps are all in perfect silver condition. The glass stoppers are also perfect, which suggest to me the set was hardly ever used becasue these are the first things to chip...and they are free of any damage.   It really does shine wonderfully.  What is remarkable is that all 6 bottles are in such great shape after 125 years of age.  The set is clearly hallmarked on the bottom with the Meriden Lion Logo and production numbers. 

The set stands at just around 15 inches in height, and the diameter at the widest section of the stand is about 7 inches. 

This set would certainly compliment any home decor or add to a Victorian antique collection.  Perfect for the most discriminating of collectors.

This antique came out of my Aunt's estate on Nantucket.  My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquarian traveling the world.  She loved antiques and taking care of them.  Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisite pieces.  I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques or coins as much as she did. Also, we wish to extend our heart felt thanks to all of you buyers that have purchased antiques from my Aunt's estate this past year, the funds are all being used to support college educations.
