YOU ARE BIDDING on a Beautiful Little ORNATE Very Unique ANTIQUE 4 VESSEL (2 Cruets, 2 Salts) SILVER / QUADRUPLE PLATED CONDIMENT SET, ca. 1910. The VESSELS are in a ORNATE little SILVER-PLATED 'Handled 4-footed CARRIER TRAY' 'Marked' (and made by) the "FORBES SILVER PLATE CO. U.S.A., QUADRUPLE PLATE, # '54'.". The MFG Name & Logo (Eagles Head?) are on the Bottom of the Carrier. The Metal Carrier is made from BRASS (base) and I believe PEWTER (sides), both of which have been Quadruple Silver Plated. The SET INCLUDES 2 Clear Crystal Manganese Glass Salt & Pepper Shakers which Measure 2 1/2" High not including the Shaker Caps; and 2 Hand Blown Glass Cruet Receptacles (4 5/8" High including the Glass Stoppers) for most likely Oil & Vinegar. The 'FORBES CARRIER' has a place for each glass piece, and a Beautiful 'FLORAL' design with DECO type ARCHES all the way around the sides. The carrier is in very nice used condition with a nice PATINA, but showing some loss to the silver-plating on the inside of the bottom where the vessels sit. The Carrier Measures nearly 3" Wide, 1 3/4" High, and 'Handle to Handle' it is 7 3/4" Long. The Inside is 2 5/8" wide by 6 1/8" long. It also has 4 'Ball Feet'. The 4 Glass Vessels are almost in NM Near Perfect condition- no cracks chips or repairs, only the few typical 'tiny pin-head-dings' to the top inside edge of the ground glass top shakers. The 'CLEAR CRYSTAL' 'HAND-BLOWN' HANDLED VINEGAR & OIL CRUETS w/ GLASS STOPPERS & FIRED OFF PONTIL SCARS are absolutely beautiful and CLEAN! This Little Set was treated very well - the PHOTOS show it better than I can describe it! This ENTIRE SET is in Remarkably Nice Condition considering it's around 100YRS old! ALL 4 GLASS PIECES DO FLUORESCE a STRONG YELLOW under Black Light, indicating that they do contain MANGANESE- thus they would 'Purple' ('pink' / SCA) if exposed to long duration, or intense, UV light- this factor alone usually indicates the piece was made before 1910, after which glass makers generally stopped putting manganese in clear glass batches- so this set 'may be' even older than 1910?, but you be the judge on that! This is an Awsome Little UNIQUE UNCOMMON SET to add to your VICTORIAN SILVER - GLASS CONDIMENT SET COLLECTION. That about does it! See the photos for the rest of the 'story'. Please e-mail your questions, corrections or insights long before the auction is scheduled to end. As always, I appreciate your input. Thanks. This FORBES SILVER PLATE CO. #54 FOUR PIECE CONDIMENT SET , shipping carton and packing, will weigh aprox 3+ pounds. NOTE: Please DO NOT make your Payment until after I have sent you your Invoice at the close of the Auction. Shipping Insurance will be included within the handling fee. Thanks for looking and enjoy the Sale!
I attempt to estimate shipping charges as honestly & accurately as possible, but these charges are not only dependent upon weight and package size, but also upon ZIP Codes and Shipping Zones, and are thus subject to change from the initial eBay estimates posted on auction listings. Thankyou.
