This is a very nice antique small size Japanese samurai sword with a metal blade and lacquered wood saya. This is going to date from the Meiji to early Showa period (1900s to 1930s). Probably used for a Boy's Day display. A lot went into making this, it's not a cheap toy. Metal, wood, silk and leather were all used by a skilled craftsman to make this. With the sword in the saya it measures 16.25 inches in length. It's longer than most tanto. The blade alone measures approx. 9 inches. Please be careful, this could be very dangerous. If you collect Japanese swords, I think it will make for an interesting piece to add to the collection. The condition is very good, minimal wear to saya. The blade is very nice as is the tsuka, tsuba and etc. Please see all the pictures. Attention customers in the U.K., you are welcome to bid on this if you agree not to hold me responsible if it is confiscated by the U.K. Post Office or Parcelforce.
