1930 GE/Telechron 324 ‘Victoria’ Mantle Clock

The 1930-31 GE/Telechron 'Victoria' has a two-toned mahogany case with Spanish high lighted panel of burl Maple. It has a 3" silvered dial with black Arabic numerals. It was not a cheap clock in its day, selling for $16.00 in 1930. It is a rare clock with only a little over 1500 sold.

Since the 'Victoria' is not a clock seen that often and it's age is almost 80 years, it made us sure we had to bring this clock back to life. The movement was disassembled, each individual gear was cleaned and polished, then oiled and reassembled. We opened up the rotor, cleaned and rinsed it out, and filled it with synthetic oil made for the higher temperatures of electric clocks. The bezel was cleaned, buffed out, polished and lacquered. Hands, dial, glass, and glass were all cleaned.

As you can see in the 'Before' photos, this clock was in rough condition. We stripped all the old finish off the case and hand-rubbed in almost 10 coats of tung oil to bring out the beauty of the original wood. We put on a new power cord using the original rear plug-in connector and a new non-polarized plug.
