Johnny Lightning Approx 1:64 Scale Diecast ~ 2008 Mopar Mayhem Series, Release 1, #2
1971 Plymouth GTX 440 in Coral Turquoise Metallic
Opening Hood w/440-cid V8 ~ Uniroyal Tiger Paw Treaded Rubber Tires
Up for auction is a loose Johnny Lightning approx 1:64 scale 1971 Plymouth (Satellite) GTX in Coral Turquoise Metallic (1971 Plymouth Factory Paint Code Q-5) with
large White center-banded bumble-bee stripes starting on either side of the dual hood bulge "cutouts" and wrapping down the front fenders to the
top of the front wheel wells.
Although I hope it is difficult to tell from the realistic photos in this listing, this diecast is only approximately 2-7/8" long, so many
of the photos are larger than actual size. For those who are interested in true scale modeling, I cannot verify whether or not this diecast is
true 1:64 scale because most Johnny Lightning castings tend to be smaller than true 1:64 scale and neither the chassis nor the original packaging
are marked with a scale specification as is done by other brands such as Matchbox and GreenLight. The man in overalls figure in the photos is
taller than 6 feet in scale dimensions and he appears in all of my photos for my customers to make a relative scale comparison to other diecasts
I have up for auction.
This 1971 Plymouth GTX 440 diecast replica features the following details:
- an opening hood with white "440" logos in the flat black angled hood bulge "cutouts"
- a body-colored engine bay with a flat black-painted radiator and orange 440-cid, 390-bhp V8 with the black air cleaner of the 3x2-bbl "Six
Pack" carbs (I know, this is the wrong engine/air cleaner, please see my note below)
- gold & black Chrysler pentagon badge on the passenger-side front fender behind the wheel well
- silver, white, & blue Plymouth badge on the center of the nose above the grille in front of the hood opening
- white "GTX" badges within the grille opening, on the passenger side of the trunk lip, and on the rear fenders in front of the wheel
wells
- silver window frames, door handles & locks, trunk lock, wheel well trim, rear bumper, and a wrap-around loop front bumper enclosing the
grille & headlights
- flat black grille background opening and air intake slot in the front fascia
- silver dual headlights
- flat white fog lights in the front fascia
- flat red vertical taillight bars and triple marker lights in black enclosures on the rear fenders
- flat amber triple marker lights in black enclosures on the front fenders
- gold vertical backup light bars in the middle of the taillight bars
- White interior with
black instrument panel & steering wheel and light brown tinted windows (that make the interior look tan through the windows)
- metal chassis with drivetrain, suspension, and dual exhaust system details with protruding dual exhaust tips
- "Real Wheels" white-letter "UNIROYAL TIGER PAW F70-15" treaded rubber tires on chrome 5-spoke slotted rallye wheels with flat black-painted
lug/slot areas between the spokes
The diecast is in mint condition and was removed from its original packaging by an adult collector and stored in a resealable plastic bag when
not in a display case. In case I have missed any imperfections,
peruse the many photos in this listing to judge the condition of the diecast
for yourself. Please note that the auction is
only for the diecast - the background building, shop tools, and figures are
not
included.
The astute observer will notice that the engine has the large air cleaner used over the 3x2-bbl "Six Pack" carbs of the "440+6" 390-bhp V8 setup.
If this diecast was a replica of the GTX 440+6, the flat black panels on the hood bulge cutouts would contain the "440+6" logo instead of the
"440" logo. So this diecast *should* have the smaller, round air cleaner of the 440-cid, 370-bhp 4-bbl engine. I think what happened here is that
Johnny Lightning just created a single engine casting used on all variations of this
1971 Plymouth Satellite, Road Runner, GTX body and did not bother to create a new casting of the air cleaner for the 440 model and just used
the engine casting from the 440+6 model.
The Plymouth Satellite, Road Runner, and GTX were restyled for 1971 with curvaceous Coke bottle styling on a slightly shorter wheelbase that
featured the new loop front bumper that wrapped around the grille and headlights. For more information and history about the Plymouth Satellite

GTX, and Plymouth Belvedere" article, and this interesting web site about the restoration of a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus by Todd Barnstetter.

Shipping & Payment Details (please do not bid if you do not agree to these conditions):
- Because of eBay's new rules for only allowing electronic payments, the only form of payment I can now accept is PayPal. But,
customers who have bought items from me in the past and have mailed a non-electronic payment may continue to pay by that method - this is the
only exception to eBay's new electronic payment rule.
- All of my 1:64 diecasts are shipped in a resealable plastic bag, wrapped by bubble-wrap, completely surrounded by styrofoam chips in a new 6"
x 4" x 4" cardboard box (or larger if needed for combined auction wins). Please check my feedback for customer testimonials about how well my
items are packed for shipping.
- USA bidders: agree to pay $4.50 for shipping anywhere within the USA.
- Canada bidders: agree to pay for shipping via USPS First Class Mail International for $5.03 (that does NOT provide a tracking number
and an estimated delivery time is NOT provided by the USPS) or via USPS Priority Mail International for $20.00 (with an estimated delivery time
of 6 to 10 days and provides a tracking number).
- Non-USA/Non-Canada bidders: shipping to anywhere other than the USA or Canada is ONLY available via USPS Priority Mail International.
I'm sorry, but I no longer offer the cheaper USPS 1st Class Mail International shipping option because the 1st Class Mail service does not offer
a tracking number and I have been burned by international customers claiming they never received their items after I shipped them - without a
tracking number I have no proof that the item was received and therefore PayPal forces me to issue a full refund. Please use the shipping rate
calculator for an exact quote.
- Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's
responsibility.
- Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
- I will NOT mark the item as a gift nor will I provide a false declared value, so please do not ask me to do so.
- Payment must be received within 10 days of auction end or else an Unpaid Item Dispute will be filed with eBay so that I can start the process
of receiving a refund for my auction closing fees (I only have a limited time to make the refund request).
- The combined shipping policy of only $1.00 more for each additional 1:64 diecast shipped in the same package ONLY applies to auction items
won on the same Sunday and/or eBay 2nd Chance Offer made the same day or the following Monday.
Please see my other auctions ending this week for more loose,
