Italianate Blue Gilt Glazed Display Cabinet Dresser
Free Delivery to United Kingdom and Ireland

Description:
This is a lovely quality early to mid 20th Century Italianate Continental design duck egg blue ground and blue / white painted gilt highlighted break-front display cabinet bookcase / sideboard / dresser / server in solid beech.  The cabinet stands on its original gilded turned bun feet, rising above which is a gilt and blue highlighted break-front frieze having two banks of four drawers flanking either side of a beautiful panelled scrolled and carved decorated gilt and blue ground door.  Behind the door is a single fitted shelf, again with the duck egg blue ground colour.  The drawers retain their original solid brass handles, complete with original locks and escutcheons.  The key to the door fits the locks to at least one of the drawers.  Rising above is the break-front moulding with two arched glazed panelled doors with a blue ground paint, with gilt highlighted glazing bars behind which are two glass shelves, flanking either side are two glass shelves to each section and a glass shelf to the base.  The cabinet has carved gilt wood corbels and foliate designs surmounted by a lovely arched carved cornice with gilt highlighting and again a blue ground with a carved gilt wood crest.  There is a working key to the glazed section.

Date:
The cabinet dates circa 1920 - 1950.

Condition:
The cabinet dresser is in very nice condition, having some minor distressing, retaining the original material lining for the open shelves, again with some minor distressing but this is consistent with age and use only adding to character and authenticity.

Dimensions:
Width across the cornice: 68 inches (172cm)
Width across the base: 67 inches (170cm)
Maximum Depth: 17 inches (43cm)
Maximum Height: 85.25 inches (217cm)
Lower Section internal shelf depth: 13.5 inches (34cm)
Upper Shelf Depth to the glazed shelves in the open section: 13.5 inches (34cm)
Upper Shelf Depth to the glazed shelves in the centre section: 13 inches (33cm)
The cabinet splits into two pieces, the top section and the base.
