Mohair

14" tall, fully jointed, working chest squeaker ZOTTY bear. Felt pads on all four feet, hand-sewn thread nose and claws, curly tan mohair coat with slightly lighter chest fur, cut mohair muzzle with felt interior of mouth. Each eye has a circle of gray felt behind it for even more realism and facial expression. No funny smells, fur and felt seem very clean- he is in WONDERFUL condition. I found Zotty at an estate sale with other vintage 1950-1960 Steiff pieces. I have looked all over this bear's ear for a button, a hole from a missing button. I have checked his seams for a cloth tag. He is just not marked but my instinct is that he is Steiff. He is just too well made to be anything else! The following is an email I received from another eBay member confirming my conclusion: "Hello .. you have a Steiff Zotty bear, 35cm size, made sometime in the 1951-78 period. The felt circles behind the eyes indicate he was made earlier within this period. A nice size, and he appears to be in nice condition as the airbrushed details are still very visible(it means he hasn't been thrown in the washing machine for becoming too dirty!). Good luck" ..
