Vintage '37 HORSE RACING - PROHIBITION Memorabilia

Up for auction is a membership card from 1937 to the Riverside Park Jockey Club, operated from 1929 to 1937.  It was popularly called the "PENDERGAST TRACK"  after its' patron, Big City Boss Tom Pendergast of Kansas City.  The horse racing track was on the site of a former dog racing track in Riverside, Missouri, just across the river.  The track was operated under a questionable legal basis.  The card is signed by Wm. P. Kyne, General Manager.  Kyne was involved with introducing pari-mutual wagering, among other things, in the mid 30's.  This is a nice piece of history.
